You're the Worst Season 5 trailer has been released. FXX has also announced that the fifth and final season will premiere January 9th, 2019. It was revealed in November 2017 that FXX had renewed the acclaimed comedy for another season. The show is a modern look at love and relationships told through the perspective of a selfish, insensitive man and a cynical, reckless woman. You're the Worst first aired July 2014 on the FX network and then went over to the sister network for Season 2, the following year.

The Season 5 trailer for You're the Worst features Chris Geere's Jimmy Shive-Overly telling some friends, "We're not having a wedding," while bride-to-be Gretchen Cutler (Aya Cash) adds, "We're eloping, suckers." From there, it's a flash of some funny scenes involving a lot of sex and some general uncomfortable feelings that the comedy series is known for. Are Gretchen and Jimmy finally turning into grownups? If the new trailer is any indication, it surely doesn't appear so.

You're the Worst Season 4 ended with Gretchen Cutler and Jimmy Shive-Overly realizing that they needed each other after a season of self-exploration. However, like anything in this show, from a wedding, to love, to relationships, and depression, it's hardly traditional. And that's why people keep coming back to watch it. When Jimmy surprises Gretchen with a brand-new car, she is delighted and states that she's always wanted a giant red ribbon. It's the perfect moment for the self-described anti-romantic comedy in a trailer that is full of other worthy moments.

You're the Worst creator Stephen Falk and FXX came to the mutual decision to end the show after Season 5. The network is allowing Falk to end the series on his own terms, which will hopefully give fans a satisfying ending to the dark comedy. Stephen Falk had this to say about Season 5 of You're the Worst.

"Making You're The Worst has been an incredible experience and FX Networks have been dream partners. I am thankful to have the opportunity to be thoroughly judged whether or not we stick the landing - which is a thing people say now that stupid Breaking Bad had to end so damn perfectly."

The debut season of You're the Worst gained favorable reviews from critics and then picked up as the seasons went along. For the 5th and 6th Critics' Choice Television Awards, the show was nominated for Best Comedy Series. Aya Cash was nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy Series and Kether Donohue was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series as well. While fans will surely be bummed that the show is coming to an end, Stephen Falk seems determined to give the best final season that he can.
