The Young Sheldon season 2 finale is going to feature younger versions of The Big Bang Theory cast. Leonard, Penny, Howard, Raj, Amy, and Bernadette will all appear in the episode, but it isn't clear who will be portraying them at this time. However, this is very exciting news for fans of both shows. It's believed that the storyline will play into the prequel while serving as a tribute to the original hit sitcom, which airs its final episode right before. Story details are not yet available, but more news should drop soon.

Young Sheldon has crossed over with The Big Bang Theory before when young star Iain Armitage showed up on an episode of Big Bang as the younger version of Sheldon via an old VHS tape. The hit spin-off series will continue on with future seasons while The Big Bang Theory is calling it quits for good. Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Mayim Bialik, and Melissa Rauch have all been saying goodbye to fans on social media throughout the production of the final season.

The Big Bang Theory is ending after 12 seasons. The show started back in 2007 and quickly became one of the most-watched shows on TV, with audiences growing each year. So far, the show has won seven Emmy Awards from 46 nominations over the years and Jim Parsons won a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Sheldon. As a whole, the series has won 56 awards from over 200 nominations. Fans are sad to see the series finally come to a close, but the last episode will be an hour long, so there's at least a little bit of a silver lining.

The Big Bang Theory's final episode was shot last week and it reportedly features some pretty big surprises along with a huge cameo, which resulted in a huge gasp from the live audience. It has been revealed many long-running storylines are wrapped up nicely in the final episode of the series and it has also been revealed that the cast members were very emotional during the taping, with many having to go have their makeup retouched from crying too much. Even series co-creator Chuck Lorre was said to have been choking back tears when yelling action for the final scene.

While The Big Bang Theory is ending, Young Sheldon will keep the spirit of the show alive and could even contain some cameos from the original cast in the future. That has not been confirmed, but there could always be a dream of what the future holds for the young character. For now, we'll just have to wait and see how well the casting directors did in finding young versions of Leonard, Penny, Howard, Raj, Amy, and Bernadette. The Young Sheldon and Big Bang Theory news was first reported by TV Line. Both shows air May 16th on CBS.
