Dwayne Johnson has announced the cast for NBC's Young Rock. Three actors will be taking on the role of Johnson at different parts of his life. The show is based, as the title implies, on the former wrestling superstar's younger years, and Johnson is excited for fans to get a look at what his early life was like, which shaped him into the Hollywood powerhouse that he is today. The series is expected to premiere in 2021.

Young Rock focuses on different chapters of The Rock's life. From growing up in a strong and resilient family, to being surrounded by the wild characters of his professional wrestling family, to playing football at the University of Miami, the show will explore the crazy rollercoaster that Johnson was on before arriving where he is today. Adrian Groulx stars as Dwayne Johnson (AKA Dewey), at age 10. He is honest, headstrong, impressionable and bold. Johnson says, "He's got the hardest job of 'em of all playing 'little Dewey' - yes, unfortunately that was the nickname my God parents gave me after the weather - as in dewdrops."

Bradley Constant is set to play Dwayne Johnson at age 15 in Young Rock. He is described as doing his best to fit in as a normal teenager but puberty has other ideas. His size and full mustache have his classmates convinced he's an undercover cop. Johnson says Constantine, "will take the reins of playing me at 15 and clearly kicking puberty's ass." Uli Latukefu as Johnson from the ages 18-20. He has just been recruited to play football on a full scholarship at powerhouse University of Miami. Though a super-star talent, a devastating injury his freshman year puts his life at a crossroads. Johnson says, "Playing at THE U - these years were some of my most defining. The highs are incredible, but the lows were critical."

Stacey Leilua will star as Ata Johnson, Dwayne Johnson's mother in Young Rock. She grew up in a first generation pro wrestling family. A strong woman, both by nature and necessity, she's a hopeful positive force in young Dwayne's life. Johnson notes, "Many of you know my mom's story - cancer survivor, gone thru hell and back, incredible life and still the sweetest human being on the planet." Joseph Lee Anderson is set to play Rocky Johnson, Dwayne's father, who is described as charismatic and charming, the pro wrestling champion juggles the ups and downs of his career with being a well-intentioned, but unorthodox, husband and father. Johnson says, "My dad was a true trail blazer and broke color barriers all across our country in the 60s, 70s & 80s. One half of the first black tag team champions (with Tony Atlas) my pops was a bad dude in the game."

Ana Tuisila is playing Lia Maivia, Ata's mother and Dwayne Johnson's grandmother. She was the first female pro-wrestling promoter in the country. A sweet loving grandmother and when need be, a cutthroat, ruthless businesswoman. Johnson notes, "She HAD TO BE tough as nails in a male dominated, shark infested world of wrestling. She set the bar for tough business practices and also set the bar for how loving a sweet grandma could be to her only grandson - me."

The Young Rock series will be executive produced by Nahnatchka Khan, Dwayne Johnson, Jeff Chiang, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, Brian Gewirtz and Jennifer Carreras. Jeffrey Walker serves as producer director / co-executive producer. The pilot was co-written by Khan and Chiang.
