One of the best things about Instagram is that it allows for unexpected cast reunions that seemingly arrive out of the blue. Earlier in the year, we got to see the cast of Lizzie McGuire come together, with Hilary Duff sharing photos from a bowling alley. And the girls of Cruel Intentions all gathered for a live stage adaptation of their cult hit. Now, in the midsts of a full-on Xena: Warrior Princess revival, the original stars of that show have slid next to each other once again to share their own reunion photo.

Lucy Lawless shot down recent rumors that she was set to co-star in a Xena: Warrior Princess TV remake with a new actress in the lead. But that hasn't stopped her from trying to promote her own return in a movie that could include both her and her co-star Renée O'Connor. She certainly didn't shoot down the chance to snap a photo with Renée O'Connor, which she has shared for the entire world to see. The photo was taken this past Wednesday. Though sadly, her horse Argo was nowhere to be found.

A little over a week ago, it was heavily reported that Xena: Warrior Princess is returning in a new series just in time for it's 20th Anniversary. Original Xena executive producers Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert are teaming with NBC and NBC Universal for the project. Right now, the search is continuing for a writer to pen the pilot script for the remake, which will set the tone for the new series as it moves forward. The original Xena: Warrior Princess aired in syndication from 1995 to 2001.

Initial reports claimed that Lucy Lawless and Renée O'Connor will not return as Xena and Gabrielle. But Lucy Lawless is wanted to play a whole new character. After this news broke, Lucy Lawless admitted that she was not ready to concede the title of Xena, and had not decided if she wants to be involved or not. The reason? She wants to make her own Xena movie. At Comic-Con to promote her role in the Sam Raimi produced Ash vs. Evil Dead, she had this to say.

"I've been pitching that show because there's a swell of interest still. I'm always being peppered with questions [about] when the Xena movie is coming. Guys, I'm pitching my ass off to make it happen, whether it's with me or not. I think it'd be funny to have a reboot like Ash vs. Evil Dead - like middle-aged Xena in a muumuu with a bad attitude and a smoking habit. Bring [actor] Ted Raimi [who played Joxer] in ... [and maybe] Bruce Campbell. I don't know what the hold-up is; it's about who has got the rights. But that's a piss-poor excuse anymore. Find who has got the rights, freakin' pay it. It's better to have 80 percent of something than 100 percent of nothing. Don't waste this opportunity; reinvigorate that franchise! It's an insane international character. They're fools not to bring it back. It's funny, it's sexy, it's action."

Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert, who have nothing but fond memories of working with both Lucy Lawless and Renée O'Connor on the original series, definitely want Lucy Lawless back for this new iteration whether it is in front of or behind the camera, and they haven't ruled out a movie featuring the original cast. While it's likely that Renée O'Connor will appear in the remake if and when it happens, her involvement has yet to be announced or even teased. But this glorious Instagram photo might be all the incentive fans need to start demanding a true revival with the original cast. Check it out as Gabrielle and Xena get cozy with each other nearly 15 years after they last said good-bye. We've also included Lucy Lawless's remarks about the reboot, which she calls wishful thinking.
