The beloved vampire gang sport sunglasses at night in a newly released set of character posters for the upcoming third season of FX's What We Do in the Shadows. Featuring the likes of Matt Berry as Laszlo Cravensworth, Kayvan Novak as Nandor the Relentless, Natasia Demetriou as Nadja, Mark Proksch as Colin Robinson and Harvey Guillén as Guillermo De la Cruz, these vibrant, neon posters will no doubt have fans excitedly slipping on a pair of shades themselves. Though maybe don't wear them at night, ya know, for safety reasons.
Created by Jemaine Clement and based on the 2014 movie of the same name by Clement and Taika Waititi, What We Do in the Shadows is a mockumentary comedy horror series set in Staten Island, and follows the lives of three traditional vampires, Nandor, Laszlo, and Nadja; Colin Robinson, an energy vampire; and Guillermo, Nandor's familiar. The series revolves around the centuries-old vampires interacting with the modern world and other supernatural beings.
The second season saw vampire Nandor's human familiar Guillermo struggling with the realization that he's a born vampire killer, part of the legendary Van Helsing family of slayers, while "energy vampire" Colin Robinson begins to grow stronger than ever before, leading to all manner of danger and, of course, hilarity.
The synopsis for What We Do in the Shadows season 3 reads, "After the shocking season two finale, we find the housemates in a panic about what to do with Guillermo after discovering that he is a vampire killer. This season, the vampires are elevated to a new level of power and will encounter the vampire from which all vampires have descended, a tempting Siren, gargoyles, werewolf kickball, Atlantic City casinos, wellness cults, ex-girlfriends, gyms and supernatural curiosities galore. Plus, Colin Robinson is turning 100. And Nandor, faced with his own eternal-life crisis, tries to inject his life with more meaning. Will he find love or is he destined to be an immortal bachelor with 37 ex-wives?"
The third season of What We Do in the Shadows is scheduled to premiere on September 2, 2021. The show has now been renewed for a fourth season, ahead of the third season premiere. "Fans can't seem to get enough of What We Do in the Shadows and FX is ready to feed that appetite by setting up the series for a fourth season," FX Entertainment original programming chief Nick Grad said of the show's fourth season. "Our thanks to the extraordinary job by the creative team, cast, and crew who keep making a great show better each season."
Both series of the show so far have been met with critical acclaim, with season one reaching a rating 94% on Rotten Tomatoes. The second season managed to climb even higher, reaching a rating of 98% thanks to expansion of the story and the vampire lore while continuing to bring a copious amount of fun and laughter. What We Do in the Shadows has even since spawned a spin-off in the form of Wellington Paranormal, which follows a group of police investigators as they track supernatural events in New Zealand. A fourth season is currently in post-production.
