At the beginning of February, Westworld fans were finally treated to the trailer and release date for the long-awaited Season 2. However ,the trailer offered more questions than answers and one of the biggest mysterious is that creepy white robot that is featured. Showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy have now broken their silence on the matter and have shed some light on the white robot that everybody has been asking about. There are some mild SPOILERS for Season 2 of Westworld below, so read at your own risk.

Towards the end of Westworld Season 1, Bernard started to learn a lot more about the park and himself than he bargained for. Jonathon Nolan hints that Bernard is about to learn a whole lot more in Season 2 about the park and what the Delos company has been hiding and one of those things just happens to be the new white robot, which is called a "drone host." As it turns out, not only does Bernard learn about the new "drone host," he also discovers that there are a lot more than just one of them.

Westworld showrunner Jonathon Nolan hinted that there are more than just the "drone hosts" in the park and says that there's other creatures. Additionally, everything is reportedly in plain sight. Visitors see one thing while the Delos corporation sees another. Nolan had this to say.

"The drone hosts relate to the corporation's secret project which is hidden in plain sight in this park. As we talked about in the pilot, the park is one thing for the guests, and it's another thing for its shareholders and management - something completely different. We've used the Google analogy - for consumers, it's for search and email, yet for the company, it's for advertising. There is an agenda here that Delos has undertaken for a very long time. As Bernard is making his way through the wreckage of the fallout from the first season, he's discovering things about the park that even he doesn't know and coming upon creatures like the drone host."

While the exact job of the "host drones" isn't clear at this time, we know that they can get pretty violent by the looks of the trailer. The Season 2 trailer does feature one of the "drone hosts" looking pretty violent, but that is more than likely not the intended function since Bernard looks a bit sinister. Plus, there is more than one hint that the robots are taking over the park and turning on Delos. It looks like Season 2 is going to be pretty epic.

Season 2 of Westworld premieres April 22nd on HBO with 10 new episodes and fans cannot wait to see what's in store for them this season. HBO will be promoting the show with a real western town at this year's SXSW festival. The wait for the second season has been longer because Jonathon Nolan and Lisa Joy stated that they wanted to take their time to craft the best story arc that they possibly could and from the looks of the trailer, they did something pretty cool.
