Many fans noticed in The Walking Dead Season 8 premiere that there were a number of references to other iconic moments from the show's history, including Carl (Chandler Riggs) recreating a scene from the pilot episode, where Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) is out looking for gas, along with an infamous orange backpack from Season 3 and a callback to the "look at the flowers" line Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) delivered in Season 4. There was one other callback that many fans missed, though with the series bringing back actress Addy Miller, who played the first zombie that was ever killed on the show, in a secret cameo that even Andrew Lincoln didn't know about.

Seven years ago, at just 10 years of age, Addy Miller played Summer, who was the first zombie killed by Rick Grimes in the pilot episode, who became known as the "Teddy Bear Walker" since she was clutching a teddy bear when Rick Grimes shot her in the head. Some fans noticed that one particular zombie, seen lurking behind Rick Grimes, looked quite similar to the Teddy Bear Walker, and it was confirmed that walker was played by Addy Miller. The actress' mother Jaime Miller, who also serves as her representative, confirmed her daughter was the first minor they brought back as a walker twice. Here's what the actress had to say about coming back to the show seven years later, revealing that her cameo was so secretive that Andrew Lincoln himself wasn't even allowed to know about it, and that she even had a fake name on the set, Lily Brussels, named after her dog, a Brussels Griffon mix named Lily Potter.

"They had to film me separately from Andrew because he's known to spill some spoilers, so they had me in hiding the whole time so the crew couldn't even know. I introduced myself to these brand new crew members like, 'Hi, I'm Lily,' The original people who've been there since Season 1, they obviously knew it was me, but we were all like, 'Shhh! Keep it a secret!' So I had to be in hiding the whole time."

The actress also revealed that director Greg Nicotero called Addy's mother the day before they were needed on the set to do a "tribute to her scene." She added that Andrew Lincoln was on the set that day but they were kept completely separated and said that "he's probably really upset" that he didn't know she was there. The 17-year-old actress also revealed that the makeup process has changed quite a bit since her first appearance. Here's what she had to say about the makeup process for her Walking Dead Season 8 premiere performance.

"The makeup process was a lot different this time, because first season it took about two and a half hours, and they only had a few prosthetics. This time it doubled that time, and I had a full mask. It was really cool to see how the zombie process has changed because they're more decomposed this season than first season."

Addy Miller made her acting debut at just eight years of age a few years before her Walking Dead appearance in the 2008 feature film The Secret Life of Bees. She also starred in Paranormal, Blood Done Sign My Name and One Last Sunset before appearing on The Walking Dead pilot, and she would go on to appear in a number of short films along with roles in The Three Stooges, Remnants, Prosper, Witching Hour, Plan 9 and Dark Places, where she played a younger version of Drea de Matteo's character Krissi Cates. She will next be seen on the big screen in The Devil's Tree, Night of the Living Dead: Genesis and Behind You.
