In just a few short days, The Walking Dead fans will finally get a look at Season 7 when the first trailer debuts during their Hall H panel at Comic-Con this year, which takes place Friday, July 22 at 1 PM ET. While we impatiently await this premiere footage, AMC has released 11 new posters, which features all of the characters trapped by Negan before he kills off one of them in the Season 6 finale. Each character is seen eyeing Negan's barbed-wire bat Lucille, as the speculation continues about who Negan's victim really is.
We have previously seen all of Negan's victims lined up in another poster, but these posters, which debuted on the network's Twitter feed, give us an up close and personal look at each character as they keep a watchful eye on Lucille. Ahead of this highly-anticipated SDCC panel, Entertainment Weekly also caught up with executive producer/director Greg Nicotero, who teased that fans will find out Negan's victim in the first episode, but he wouldn't say who it is yet, since they're still "messing around" with it in editing.
"Obviously, we'll find out in the first episode. Truthfully, in terms of the structure of it, we're still editing it right now. We're still playing around with that particular episode. It's not finished yet so I really can't say."
It is expected that, along with the trailer premiere at Comic-Con this week, the show's producers will also reveal a premiere date while possibly confirming some of the new characters that will be introduced this season. It has been long rumored that we'd be introduced to Ezekiel, the leader of a group known as The Kingdom, but it hasn't been confirmed yet that we'll see him. Greg Nicotero did hint that this world will be getting a lot bigger.
"As we've entered into season 7, one of the things that was exciting to all of us was this new chapter. You know, The Walking Dead changes and it morphs, and it evolves, and our fans are tremendously dedicated and tremendously passionate about the show. Last season we saw the quarry and we saw these thousands of walkers, and once that threat was dispatched we started introducing the Saviors and Hilltop. And [showrunner Scott M. Gimple] and I were talking about the fact that anytime you see a trailer for something, it's the promise of these new worlds that's exciting. You're opening a new chapter and you're going into a different direction, and that's where we are, and it's going to happen pretty rapidly and pretty dramatically as we get into episodes 1, 2, 3, and 4. We're really going to get a great sense of a larger world and what these different communities are like, who the people are that are there and what they have to offer, so for us, it's very exciting. The scripts are fantastic. You know, the first episode, obviously, was pretty intense and pretty brutal, and pretty sad and emotional and definitely a challenge for everybody involved to sort of take us to this different place, but the show has a lot of really unique flavors to offer."
The Comic-Con panel will feature Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira, Chandler Riggs, Sonequa Martin-Green, Michael Cudlitz, Josh McDermitt, Ross Marquand, Christian Serratos, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who will join executive producer and showrunner Scott M. Gimple, executive producer Robert Kirkman, executive producer Gale Anne Hurd, executive producer Dave Alpert, and special effects makeup supervisor and executive producer Greg Nicotero in a panel moderated by Chris Hardwick (The Nerdist,Talking Dead). The panelists will discuss the shocking finale of season 6 and a sneak peek into season 7, debuting in October on AMC. Take a look at these new character posters below, and stay tuned for more on The Walking Dead as we get closer to Season 7 debuting on AMC.
