AMC has released a new The Walking Dead season 10 image and it's intense. The network is preparing for this weekend's San Diego Comic-Con craziness by giving a little tease featuring Danai Gurira's Michonne and a very unlucky zombie. The show's panel is all set to take place this Friday at Hall H, where all of the major studios reveal their biggest news for the year. AMC's The Walking Dead has been a hit at the annual event ever since it debuted back in 2010.

The Walking Dead season 10 may very well be Danai Gurira's last as Michonne and from the looks of things, she's going down in a blaze of glory. In the latest image, she's wielding a sword and killing a zombie while fire rages on in the background. As it turns out, fire, and other natural elements, are going to have a big role to play in the upcoming season. Showrunner Angela Kang had this to say.

"One of the things that we have going on this season is, we're continuing some explorations of natural elements and how they play into our world. And fire is one of those elements that comes into play in a few key ways that twist the story in a way that will be pretty exciting."

The fire aspect sounds like it will have some pretty interesting effects on The Walking Dead season 10. "Fire is terrifying now," says Angela Kang. "But we sort of take for granted that we have people that can deal with it. It obviously has very different implications for our people in an apocalyptic world." While Kang can't give anything too specific away, she is teasing something interesting for AMC's hit show, which could end up changing everything in a major way.

Angela Kang also recently revealed that The Walking Dead season 10 will include themes surrounding paranoia and PTSD. In addition, the show is going to be taking some of Robert Kirkman's specific ideas from the comics and will be incorporating them into the upcoming season. One of those ideas revolves around "silence the Whisperers," which Kang is very excited to show to long-time fans of the show and its source material. Overall, Kang says season 10 will be unique, which certainly sounds promising.

When pressed for more details on The Walking Dead season 10, Angela Kang chose her worlds very carefully. "We will definitely see our people trying to contend with things that they can't handle in the same ways that we do in our world now," says the showrunner. Kang has to be cryptic, but we should get some more answers this Friday when the Comic-Con panel takes place.
