We have a brand new look at The Walking Dead season 10. AMC had originally intended to end the show's latest season last year but, as we all know, 2020 had other plans. Rather than just make fans wait until season 11, the network opted to extend the current season by six additional episodes, which will begin airing next month. Now, we have a brand new teaser trailer, as well as a new batch of photos, offering a fresh glimpse at the zombie action coming our way in the near future.

The teaser is truly just that, a tease. We don't get much in the way of actual footage. Instead, it's a series of images with voiceover from our main characters, presented ominously without context. Daryl, for example, kicks things off by saying, "I'm not gonna stop until I find out." Not that The Walking Dead is known for being light-hearted by any means, but this teaser is particularly dark. The teaser concludes with Negan who says, "I didn't escape if that's what you're thinking." We know that this season will give us a glimpse into the characters past, with Jeffrey Dean Morgan's real-life wife Hilarie Burton playing Lucille.

As for the photos, they showcase returning characters such as Lauren Cohan's Maggie, as well as Negan, Daryl and more. We also get a new look at the Commonwealth Army, who will be factoring into the new set of stories. AMC has also revealed a new synopsis for the rest of season 10, which reads as follows.

"We find our survivors trying to pick themselves up by their bootstraps following the destruction the Whisperers left in their wake. The years of struggle weigh upon them as past traumas surface, exposing their more vulnerable sides. As they question the state of humanity, the state of their collective community, and the states of their minds, will they find the inner strength to persevere with their lives, friendships, and group intact?"

This is a major period of change for the franchise. It was announced last year that The Walking Dead season 11 will conclude the long-running series, which is based on Robert Kirkman's Image Comics series of the same name. But, the network is already planning two new spin-offs. One will be centered on Daryl and Carol, while the other, an anthology series, titled Tales of the Walking Dead is on the way. TWD universe creative head Scott Gimple also teased that a comedy series set within the franchise is in development.

Beyond that, we have another season of the new spin-off The World Beyond on the horizon, as well as Fear the Walking Dead season 7. Plus, the trilogy of Rick Grimes movies starring Andrew Lincoln are still in the works, with the first movie possibly set to begin shooting this year. The Walking Dead season 10 returns February 28 on AMC. Be sure to check out the new photos, as well as the teaser, from The Walking Dead Twitter account}.
