NextGames has released a trailer for their augmented reality game The Walking Dead: Our World, which reveals the game will be available for download on Android and iOS platforms on July 12. The game brings the zombies from the hit show into our own world, and tests your skills as a zombie hunter. Here's the official description for the game below.

"The Walking Dead: Our World lets players fight walkers wherever and whenever they want: on the streets, in the park and on their sofa. Players won't need to face the apocalypse alone, with Rick, Daryl, Michonne and all their favorite characters from AMC's The Walking Dead fighting by their side. The game will be available on iOS and Android free of charge to download."

NextGames also recently announced that Google Maps will power this location-based augmented reality game. Fans will be able to hunt for "zombies" in real locations around the world thanks to this partnership. Here's what Teemu Huuhtanen, CEO, Next Games, had to say in a recent statement.

"We are excited to partner with Google Maps, inarguably the best maps product in the world. With Google Maps, we can count on providing the most up-to-date location data, meaning that when new buildings or roads are built, we'll have them in our game. This enables us to create an immersive experience, tied to the players' location. Google Maps' unrivalled amount of location data, covering world-famous landmarks, businesses and buildings, such as the Statue of Liberty, the Eiffel Tower, the London Eye, Burj Khalifa and India Gate, makes exploring your surroundings a breathtaking experience."

This is just the latest in NextGames' ongoing collaboration with AMC and The Walking Dead, with the company's previous Walking Dead games including The Walking Dead: No Man's Land, and the recent campaign for that game called Playtime with Jesus, featuring The Walking Dead stars Tom Payne as Jesus and Alanna Masterson as Tara. The Walking Dead: No Man's Land, based on the popular AMC TV series, has been downloaded over 20 million times, with the game mirroring events as they occur in the show.

AMC's The Walking Dead is currently in production on Season 9 of the hit show, which will bring about some major changes both in front of and behind the camera. Scott M. Gimple has ceded his post as showrunner to serve as the chief content officer for the entire Walking Dead universe, including The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead and future shows. Angela Kang has been promoted to showrunner for Season 9, which has also been confirmed as the final season for both Andrew Lincoln's Rick Grimes and Lauren Cohan's Maggie Rhee. Cohan has been slated to appear in six episodes this season, since her new show Whiskey Cavalier was picked up for a full season by ABC.
