AMC and Skybound Entertainment have released a new teaser for The Walking Dead spin-off series. Little is known about the latest addition to the Walking Dead universe, which is set to air next year. What we know for sure is that this new show will center on the first group of survivors who have had to grow up in the zombie apocalypse. This initial teaser leans heavily on that idea.

The teaser doesn't so much contain actual footage from the new show. Instead, it's a bunch of concept art, mixed in with voiceover from the various actors who are set to play parts on the new series. We see lots of intriguing imagery that will presumably pop up in the show. We're also treated to artist renderings of the new characters, which are juxtaposed against the stars who will be bringing them to life. The voiceover, which is read by the various cast members, is as follows.

"What if you grew up in a world of safety? And you decided to leave. To discover the truth of who you are and what the world really is. You know. Growing up. There have been things going on in the Walking Dead universe since the very start of the story. All happening over all these years. In other places we haven't seen. With people we haven't seen. With the dead we haven't seen. But we'll see it all this spring."

Even though the flagship series, which is entering its tenth season, has seen a steep decline in ratings over the past few years, AMC is showing no signs of slowing down. In this case, they intend to showcase an entirely new side of this universe through fresh, young eyes. The cast for the untitled show includes Annet Mahendru as Huck, Aliyah Royale as Iris, Alexa Mansour as Hope, Nicolas Cantu as Elton and Hal Cumpston as Silas.

Outside of this show, Fear the Walking Dead has been renewed for season 6. It's also fairly safe to assume, barring some sort of catastrophe, that The Walking Dead will score a season 11 pickup. Beyond that, AMC has also teamed with Universal Pictures for the first of three Walking Dead movies centered on Rick Grimes. A teaser was revealed during San Diego Comic-Con that didn't reveal much, but did bring the news that, at least the first movie, will be released theatrically.

This new, untitled show is set to begin production soon in Virginia. It was created by Walking Dead universe head Scott Gimple, alongside Matt Negrete, who will serve as showrunner. Negrete previously served as a writer for several seasons on the main series. We'll be sure to keep you posted as any further details on the project are made available. The Walking Dead spin-off doesn't yet have a release date, but season 1 will consist of 10 episodes and is set to arrive in spring 2020. Be sure to check out the teaser from the Skybound YouTube channel for yourself.
