Many fans of The Walking Dead are still reeling from that rather shocking mid-season finale. It was very upsetting for everyone involved, most of all Chandler Riggs, who plays Carl Grimes on the series. However, it seems like things are getting better, as the actor has cut his hair and seems to be doing just fine. Now, Gina-Ann Riggs, Chandler's mom, has shared a note online, thanking fans of The Walking Dead for their love and support.

Warning: spoilers ahead for The Walking Dead season 8 mid-season finale. As anyone who's seen the episode How it's Gotta Be knows, Carl Grimes' days are numbered. He's not dead yet, but he's going to die for sure when The Walking Dead returns in February. There's been an immense outpouring from fans, supporting Chandler Riggs after the rather shocking reveal. Not only because they love the character, but because he was expected to be on the series for at least several more years. Here's what his mom had to say in a recent Instagram post about the love and support they've received.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart! The amount of messages, texts, and calls we have gotten is overwhelming. We feel the love!!! I have read every comment tonight and I am so happy that my sweet Chandler had such a huge impact on so many lives through his portrayal of Carl. Please know that although we were shocked and disappointed in the beginning, we are all good now. Chandler is happy and is still working, doing what he loves to do. This is a tough business and he's handled himself like a true pro."

In case you need a reminder, or just want to relive the awful moment, Carl Grimes met his inevitable demise in the latest episode of the hit AMC series. During the mid-season finale of The Walking Dead season 8, Carl Grimes was in a battle with The Saviors, which isn't really out of the ordinary. However, after the dust settles from the battle, he reveals that he has a Walker bite on his torso. Not a limb that can be cut off. The show is killing Carl and there's no way around it. It's been confirmed by the show's producers since. This is the end for Carl Grimes.

The best part is that, despite a lot of frustration, with Andrew Lincoln even expressing his distaste for the decision publically, it sounds like Chandler Riggs and his family are doing well. The question is, how's The Walking Dead going to move forward without one of its biggest stars? Time will tell, as The Walking Dead season 8 returns to AMC on February 25. But the young actor seems to be doing fine, which is surely nice for fans to hear. You can check out Gina-Ann Riggs' Instagram post for yourself below.
