Jared Padalecki should have some legitimate chemistry with his character's wife on The CW's upcoming Walker, Texas Ranger reboot, as Genevieve Padalecki has been cast as Emily Walker. Previously, it was reported that Jared would be playing Texas Ranger Cordell Walker in the reboot series, assuming the role originally played by Chuck Norris. Now, The Wrap is reporting that Genevieve will play Cordell's late wife in the show, and the two will share the screen through flashback scenes at various points in the series.

The new Walker will pick up with Cordell fighting crime with a new partner named Micki (Lindsey Morgan), noted to be one of the only female Rangers in the state's history. According to the plot description, the series also follows Cordell returning home to Austin, Texas "after being undercover for two years, only to discover there's harder work to be done at home. He'll attempt to reconnect with his children, navigate clashes with his conservative family, and find unexpected common ground with his new partner, while growing increasingly suspicious about the circumstances surrounding his wife's death."

Some character details also provide a few more clues about the characters the Padaleckis will be playing in the show. Jared's Cordell Walker in the rebooted Walker has also been described as a father of two along with being a widower. For her part, Genevieve's role as Emily is also described as someone who is a "strong, capable and generous" person who's dedicated to "helping the disenfranchised." She is also said to be a "grounded and authentic hero in the Walker family."

This will not be the first time the Padaleckis have shared the screen together. In fact, the two met on the set of Supernatural when Genevieve first began playing Ruby in the show's fourth season. Of course, Jared has remained on the series ever since, recently wrapping up filming on the series finale. While it's very sad for fans of the long-running series to see it finally come to an end, it's clear that its lead stars aren't going anywhere. Along with Jared picking up a lead role in the new Walker, his co-star Jensen Ackles has also been cast as a superhero in the Amazon Prime Video series The Boys.

Before Supernatural, Genevieve appeared in an episode of The Dead Zone and had a lead role in the ABC Family series Wildfire. She also appeared in the movies Kids in America and Bickford Shmeckler's Cool Ideas. Genevieve also had a recurring role in the ABC series FlashForward, based on the sci-fi novel of the same name by Robert J. Sawyer. She then took a sabbatical from acting to focus on raising the family's three children, which lasted several years. Walker is officially marking her return to the small screen with her first role since 2012.

Walker is reportedly set to begin filming in October with a tentative release for January 2021. Anna Fricke is writing and executive producing with Dan Lin and Lindsay Liberatore also exec producing alongside Jared Padalecki. CBS Television Studios will produce alongside Rideback.
