Supernatural star Jared Padalecki has revealed what seems to be our first look at how he'll appear as Cordell Walker in The CW's Walker, Texas Ranger reboot. After wrapping up a 15-year run playing Dean Winchester alongside Jensen Ackles as brother Sam, Padalecki decided to stick around on the network by immediately picking up the starring role in Walker. In a new teaser to promote the upcoming series, Padalecki speaks directly to his fans to invite them along to check out the show when it debuts early next year.

"Hey y'all, this is Jared Padalecki," the actor states in the Walker video. "This January, only on The CW, I'll be going from the Winchester family to the Walker family. The family I'd most like to come along is you, my CW family. Can't wait for you to join me here in Texas."

With his hair trimmed and slicked back and a beard that more closely resembles the original Cordell Walker, Jared Padalecki is looking a bit different from how he typically appeared on Supernatural. Although he's not in character for the video teaser, this could be how Padalecki will look in the new Walker. All that seems to be missing are the badge and hat, but given how quickly we're approaching the series premiere, chances are a full trailer will soon be on the way, giving us a better look at how Padalecki will be presented in the show.

The original Walker, Texas Ranger ran on CBS between 1993 and 2001. It starred Chuck Norris in the lead role of Cordell Walker, a member fo the Texas Ranger Division who investigates local crime activity in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Co-starring as his partner is Clarence Gilyard as James Trivette, with the series also featuring Sheree J. Wilson as Alexandra Cahill and Gailard Sartain and Noble Willingham sharing the role of CD Parker. In 2005, Norris returned for the TV movie spinoff Walker, Texas Ranger: Trial by Fire.

According to the logline, the new Walker stars Padalecki as Cordell Walker, "a man finding his way back to his family while investigating crime in the state's most elite unit. Our broken widower and father of two returns home to Austin after being undercover for two years for a high profile case - only to discover that there's even more work to be done at home. In a nod to the original series, Walker and his new partner - one of the only women in Texas Rangers' history - are the modern day heroes our world needs, following their own moral code to fight for what's right, regardless of the rules."

Co-starring with Padalecki in the new Walker are Lindsey Morgan as Cordell's partner Micki and Keegan Allen, Mitch Pileggi, and Molly Hagan as Cordell's brother, father, and mother. Coby Bell also stars as Captain Larry James and Padalecki's real-life wife, Genevieve Padalecki, will be featured as Cordell's late wife Emily in flashback sequences.

Walker is set to premiere on The CW on Jan. 21, 2021. The new teaser comes to us from The CW on YouTube.
