Over the past few years, Netflix has built its burgeoning TV slate through a combination of original programming like House of Cards and Daredevil, and by resurrecting beloved properties like Arrested Development and Fuller House. Next month, their slate gets even bigger with the reboot of another beloved series, Voltron, when Voltron: Legendary Defender debuts June 10 on the streaming service. With less than one month before its premiere, Netflix has unleashed the second trailer with new footage from this animated series.

From days long ago, from uncharted regions of the universe comes the Netflix Original Series, DreamWorks Voltron Legendary Defender! DreamWorks Animation reimagines one of the most popular fan-favorite shows of all time in this all-new comedic action-packed show from executive producer Joaquim Dos Santos (The Legend of Korra, Avatar: The Last Airbender) and co-executive producer Lauren Montgomery (The Legend of Korra). Five unsuspecting teenagers, transported from Earth into the middle of a sprawling intergalactic war, become pilots for five robotic lions in the battle to protect the universe from evil. Only through the true power of teamwork can they unite to form the mighty warrior known as Voltron. Here's what executive producer Joaquim Dos Santos had to say about the Netflix series in a statement.

"As children of the 80's who grew up with Voltron what was there not to love? You had 5 awesome lions, piloted by 5 awesome heroes who combined to form a giant, sword wielding Titan! It unapologetically married Sci-fi and Fantasy in one incredibly over the top, bombastic package. Fans of the new series Voltron: Legendary defender can look for us to keep all those elements but also expect a much more fleshed out universe with a rich backstory and characters who will evolve over the course of the series."

The voice cast includes Kimberly Brooks as Princess Allura, Rhys Darby as Coran, Josh Keaton as Shiro/Black Lion, Tyler Labine as Hunk/Yellow Lion, Jeremy Shada as Lance/Blue Lion, Bex Taylor-Klaus as Pidge/Green Lion and Steven Yeun as Keith/Red Lion. The streaming service announced Voltron: Legendary Defender back in early January, along with another series, Guillermo del Toro's Trollhunters, but it isn't known when that series may debut yet. Another report from February revealed that the new Voltron series will follow the formula of the original animated series, Voltron: Defender of the Universe. In addition to the trailer, we also have the final poster which you can check out below.

The original Voltron series was based on the Japanese anime properties Beast King GoLion and Kikou Kantai Dairugger XV, which ran for three seasons between 1984 and 1985. The original series spawned a TV special, Voltron: Fleet of Doom, in 1986, followed by another animated series Voltron: The Third Dimension in 1988, although it only lasted 26 episodes. Most recently, Nickelodeon tried to revive the beloved property with Voltron Force in 2011, but that only lasted 26 episodes as well.
