Norman Reedus had lined up yet another project to add to his busy schedule. The Walking Dead star is developing Undone by Blood, the Aftershock Comics western series, as a TV show. Reedus is set to serve as an executive producer and likely star in the show. This comes as Reedus recently signed a first-look deal with AMC, extending the scope of their partnership.

Undone By Blood is being developed by bigbaldhead, the production company recently founded by Norman Reedus. Zac Thompson and Lonnie Nadler, who wrote and co-created the series for Aftershock, are on board as executive producers alongside JoAnne Colonna, Amanda Verdon, Jon and Lee Kramer. Nadler had this to say in a statement.

"Undone by Blood was born from a place of pure passion, out of a love for Westerns, for myself and the entire creative team. At the outset, our goal was to tell a story that added to the genre by deconstructing its themes, and to make the best comic book we could. While having your book adapted is the ultimate dream for many creators, it was not for us. We wouldn't be doing this unless we felt it was one-hundred-percent the right fit. And from our first discussion with Norman and his team at bigbaldhead, it was clear that their passion for the project matched our own with genuine enthusiasm. They understood the nuances, the world, and the characters completely."

Undone By Blood takes place in the early 1970s as Ethel Grady Lane returns to her hometown of Sweetheart, Arizona intending to kill the man who murdered her family. She navigates the eccentric town and learns that there is darkness brewing under the surface. She has no choice but to descend into a ring of depravity and violence, with her only ally an Old West novel that follows famed gunslinger Solomon Eaton. Both stories unfold simultaneously and fiction begins to inform reality. Norman Reedus would possibly play Solomon Eaton. Zac Thompson had this to say.

"From day one of our conversations it was clear we were all drawn to the material for the same reasons. The western genre casts a long shadow over the American film industry and it's so exciting to create a show that will explore the impact of that legacy while also paying tribute to it. The dual narrative structure of the story makes it perfect for the transition to television. Fans of classic Westerns will get their Sergio Leone tales of justice on the frontier. And fans of quirky Coen Brothers neo-westerns will get theirs too. It's an embarrassment of genre riches."

This comes after it was recently announced by AMC that The Walking Dead season 11 will conclude the long-running series based on Robert Kirkman's comic books. However, Norman Reedus will star in a spin-off centered on Daryl and Carol, which is expected to arrive in 2023. Reedus also has his series Ride airing on AMC.

The first collection of Undone by Blood is arriving in comic stores on November 4 and in bookstores on November 17. Norman Reedus wrote the foreword to the collection. We'll be sure to keep you posted as further details are made available. This news was previously reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
