Back in January, Netflix announced two new animated series that will debut later this year, as part of their extended deal with DreamWorks Animation. The first series, Voltron: Legendary Defender, has already been given a June 10, 2016 premiere date on the streaming service, but the second show, Guillermo del Toro's Trollhunters, has not been given a proper release at this time. Earlier today, Annency announced a new Masterclass with Guillermo del Toro, which came with the first photo from Trollhunters.

The Masterclass event will take place on Wednesday, June 15 at the Annency Film Festival, featuring award-winning master storyteller Guillermo del Toro as he reflects on his prolific career leading up to the world's first glimpse at his latest creation, DreamWorks Trollhunters, debuting later this year. Slated to premiere as a Netflix original series in 2016, DreamWorks Trollhunters will unleash a new, fantastical world wrapped around the residents of the fictional suburb of Arcadia who make a startling discovery that the world beneath their hometown is as vast and mind-blowing as anything on the surface. A global must-see viewing event for the entire family, DreamWorks Trollhunters will bring viewers of all ages around the world into the rich and creative mind of Guillermo del Toro.

Guillermo del Toro's work as a director, screenwriter, filmmaker, producer and author is incredibly extensive and varied, ranging from novels to comic books and television to imaginative feature films. Throughout his career, he has consistently had a strong connection and lifelong fascination with fantastical creatures and in DreamWorks Trollhunters he has created vast and vibrant worlds with complex human and troll characters that create a cinematic television experience.

Guillermo del Toro's Trollhunters is most likely based on the novel he co-wrote last summer with Daniel Kraus. It isn't known if Guillermo del Toro will write or direct the pilot episode for this series, and no voice cast members have been announced at this time. Perhaps the director will announce the voice cast and the premiere date during this Annency Masterclass, but we'll have to wait and see.

Trollhunters will mark Guillermo del Toro's first foray into TV animation, although he previously served as a producer on 20th Century Fox's The Book of Life in 2014.
