Syfy's Tremors has been building a stellar cast over the past few weeks, and it just got even bigger with the addition of a new series regular, actor P.J. Byrne. There have also been four additional actors joining the cast, but there has been no indication as to whether or not they'll be series regulars. The additional cast members are Hunter Parrish (Weeds), Ebonee Noel (Wrecked), Brandon Jay McLaren (Ransom), and Haley Tju (Bella and the Bulldogs), who will join series star Kevin Bacon, returning as Valentine McKee from the original 1990 Tremors movie.

The series is set 25 years after the original movie, bringing the action back to Paradise, Nevada, where the Graboids return to. The town's only hope of survival rests on the shoulders of Valentine McKee, who has defeated the Graboids before, although this time around, he'll have to overcome age, alcohol and a delusional hero complex. P.J. Byrne will play a character named Melvin, a survivor from the original Graboid attack who has become a real estate developer. Melvin has become "obsessed" with reinventing Paradise, which is all fueled by his jealousy of Valentine McKee. It isn't known if this is the same character Melvin Plug, played by Robert Jayne from the original movie.

As for the other characters, Hunter Parrish is set to play Arthur Brandt, the "young magnetic leader" for a group of, "pot-growing, earth-worshipping" Millennials who have come to Paradise to take advantage of the town's unique spiritual energy. Ebonee Noel is set to play Zoe, described as a "truth-seeker possessed with deep, sensual intuition and mystic power," who provides the group with visions of events to come that are aligned with Perfection's "unique energy." Brandon Jay McLaren is playing Toby, who is said to be a "likable guy who nobody likes." He has come to Paradise as the liaison to a data storage company, handling the company's transition from a manned to an unmanned, automated operation. The final new Tremors TV show cast member, Haley Tju is playing Jai, "a dirt-biking drug smuggler and Perfection's resident badass."

Syfy revealed an official Tremors plot synopsis earlier this month, which revealed another major character, Valentine's daughter, played by Emily Tremaine. The synopsis revealed that Valentine McKee's "grown daughter" has come to visit Paradise which could signal a "permanent homecoming" between father and son. Unfortunately, just after she arrives in Paradise, strange and terrifying events occur that forces Valentine McKee back into action, as he leads a team to uncover the spine-chilling truth of what's hunting them. With the future looking darker than ever, these small-town heroes must shake off the dust of years to see what they're made of.

Syfy issued a Tremors series order back in June, after the project was in development for quite some time. Kevin Bacon has said in the past that this would be a 10-episode mini-series. From Universal Cable Productions, the drama was written by Andrew Miller (The Secret Circle), who will also serve as showrunner and executive producer along with Bacon and David Schiff (Southpaw) in association with Blumhouse Television. P.J. Byrne will next be seen in 15:17 to Paris from Clint Eastwood, along with next year's Rampage, alongside Dwayne Johnson. This casting report comes from Deadline, and with production slated to begin next month, we should have more casting details soon.
