The Walking Dead: World Beyond is the second spin-off from AMC's hugely popular The Walking Dead franchise. A new trailer has arrived, and from the looks of things, this latest look at the zombie apocalypse will bring some much needed color to the doom and gloom of a world on the brink of extinction.

The Walking Dead has been in need of a new breathe of life, no pun intended. The past few seasons of The Walking Dead flagship show has seen a steady decline in ratings. The original returns this weekend, with an all-new episode in what some fans are calling the best season yet. During this latest episode, fans will get treated to a look at The Walking Dead: World Beyond. But we have that sneak peek for you here in all its technicolor glory.

The teaser brings us a look at the new characters we will be meeting in this series, introducing the actors who may or may not be on the zombie menu in the near future. The Walking Dead has a knack for killing off its main cast members, so it's really anyone's guess at who will survive in this charred and desolate landscape.

To send the apocalyptic message home, the footage begins in black and white. Soon, bright colors fill the screen, and we see a lot of smiles as the soundtrack promises that there is a bright road ahead for these survivors. A new world is coming, and these teens have grown up in a world infested with the living dead.

Somewhat surprisingly, this almost looks like a Mall add. All of the characters are slick, cool, and most of all clean. They don't look like they've wallowed in the muck much or been chased by too many zombies. There is a very optimistic air swirling around the whole thing that is inviting, yet it's also in danger of turning off some hardcore fans.

The first season of The Walking Dead: World Beyond will consist of 10 episodes. It will premiere on AMC Sunday, April 12 at 10pm EST. All future episodes will the air on Sunday nights at 9:00pm EST.

The first episode will follow The Walking Dead Season 10 finale. In an interesting move right out of the Netflix playbook, The Walking Dead: World Beyond will only run for two seasons and then its finished. Perhaps if its a huge ratings winner they'll do more. But for now, this is a limited series that will only consist of 20 episodes in total. AMC released this synopsis for the show.

Some will become heroes. Some will become villains. In the end, all of them will be changed forever. Grown-up and cemented in their identities, good & bad. Two sisters along with two friends leave a place of safety and comfort to brave dangers, known and unknown, living and undead on an important quest. Pursued by those who wish to protect them and those who wish to harm them, a tale of growing up and transformation unfurls across dangerous terrain, challenging everything they know about the world, themselves and each other."

Jordan Vogt-Roberts is directing the first of these ten new episodes. Among the cast are Alexa Mansour, Nicolas Cantu, Hal Cumpston, Julia Ormond, Aliyah Royale and Annet Mahendru. As The Walking Dead Season 10 plays itself out, we're sure to see more from The Walking Dead: World Beyond in the coming weeks.
