Back in March, we reported that The Walking Dead will bring back Michael Rooker as Merle Dixon in Season 3 of the hit AMC zombie series, returning to the airwaves in October. Today we have the proof, new photos from the Atlanta set. Be warned, though, that these two photos reveal quite a lot, so if you don't want to be spoiled about the fate of Merle, look away now. We warned you... OK, take a look at these spoiler-heavy shots.
Our report from March didn't reveal what sort of condition Merle would be in. We didn't know if he would be alive, a "walker," or another hallucinogenic vision only seen by Norman Reedus's Daryl Dixon. As you can see in the above photos, Merle is still alive and kicking, most likely in the Woodbury survival camp lead by David Morrissey's The Governor. If you look closely at the second photo above, that van looks like the same one featured in the background of last week's first-look photo of The Governor. His presence in Woodbury would also explain how his previously-severed hand was "repaired."
