Season 3 of The Walking Dead will be the most contentious yet for Rick and his thinning band of survivors, since they not only have to deal with those pesky zombies, but a new group of humans from the Woodbury colony. This week's issue of Entertainment Weekly features four new covers with characters from both sides of these opposing groups. Take a look at Rick (Andrew Lincoln) Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), Merle Dixon (Michael Rooker), Michonne (Danai Gurira), and The Governor (David Morrissey), then read on for more details on the upcoming season. We also have the first photo of Dallas Roberts, who we reported yesterday is playing The Governor's right hand man, Milton.
Rick and company find the prison early on in Season 3, and transform it into their new base of operations. Little do they know that the Woodbury, Georgia is nearby. Executive producer Robert Kirkman revealed that this season will center on these two very different groups trying to inhabit the same world.
"This season really is about setting up these two worlds and watching them come to a head and collide. And you know that there are going to be some pretty explosive encounters between Rick and the Governor. This season is going to be about getting to know these two characters, and then waiting for their eventual confrontation that could destroy everything."
