Last month, we reported that AMC renewed The Walking Dead for Season 4, although executive producer/showrunner Glen Mazzara is leaving the show after Season 3. Today, the series promoted writer and supervising producer Scott M. Gimple to showrunner. The network has also released a new promo for the upcoming Season 3 episode "The Suicide King", airing Sunday, February 10 at 9 PM ET on AMC. Take a look at the video, then read on for more information about the new showrunner.

Scott M. Gimple is the series' third showrunner in as many years. Series creator Frank Darabont was fired by AMC, which hired Glen Mazzara to replace him in Season 2. It is believed that Glen Mazzara's departure may have happened because of pressure by comic book creator/executive producer Robert Kirkman.

Scott M. Gimple joined the series in Season 2 as a writer and supervising producer. He wrote the Season 3 episode "Hounded" and the penultimate Season 3 episode, airing Sunday, March 24. The writer has also worked on shows such as Chase, FlashForward, Life, and the upcoming Da Vinci's Demons.
