In Sunday night's new episode, The Simpsons will finally dive into the origin story of one of the show's most eccentric characters: Comic Book Guy. Called "The Dad-Feelings Limited," the episode will reveal the "awesome origin story" of the sarcastic comic book salesman. A sneak peek clip from the episode has also been released, revealing Homer and Marge Simpson befriending Comic Book Guy and Kumiko after the foursome forms a dominant team on trivia night at Moe's tavern.

The episode will also see Comic Book Guy and wife Kumiko discussing whether or not it's time for them to have a baby. Given their newfound friendship with the Simpson family, there's probably a thing or two they can learn about having kids from Homer and Marge. Special guest voice actors will also be used for roles in the episode, including Dan Aykroyd and Bob Balaban, though it's not yet clear which characters they'll be voicing.

Voiced by Hank Azaria, Comic Book Guy is Springfield's resident comic book geek. He owns and runs The Android's Dungeon and Baseball Card Shop and is known for rudely berating his guests, often including children like Bart and Milhouse. He first appeared in the season 2 episode "Three Men and a Comic Book," which sees him selling a rare Radioactive Man comic to Bart, Milhouse, and Martin. He has been a recurring character that's used on the show frequently in the years since, though his backstory is still largely a mystery.

For years, The Simpsons did not even have an official name for Comic Book Guy. Even on the show, other characters would refer to him this way like it was his actual name. It wasn't until season 16 when the character's name was finally revealed, as he introduced himself as Jeff Albertson in the 2005 episode, "Homer and Ned's Hail Mary Pass." By that time, it had been far too long where he'd been known as Comic Book Guy that he's still mostly known by this nickname as opposed to Jeff.

Perhaps the biggest development seen from Comic Book Guy thus far was his marriage to Kumiko in the season 25 episode "Married to the Blob." In the episode, Stan Lee cameos to tell Comic Book Guy that he has a real chance at love when Kumiko enters his shop. With a lot in common, the couple manages to hit it off, and Lee personally marries the two at the end of the episode. In the years since, Comic Book Guy is usually seen with Kumiko nearby, as the marriage is apparently working out just fine.

The new episode of The Simpsons with Comic Book Guy's backstory will air on Fox on Sunday at 9/8c, one hour later than the show usually airs. Because Comic Book Guy has long been one of the most popular background characters in Springfield, the new episode might be one of the more interesting stories to come from The Simpsons in quite some time.
