The Price Is Right is on hiatus following the murder of host Drew Carey's ex-fiancee Amie Harwick. Over the weekend, Harwick was allegedly killed by an ex-boyfriend who assaulted her in the home, leading her to fall to her death from a third-story balcony. When police arrived on the scene responding to reports of a woman screaming, they were greeted by Harwick's roommate, who told officers she was being attacked inside. She was then found unresponsive on the ground soon after with injuries consistent with a fall, later dying in the hospital as a result of the horrific incident.

It wasn't so long ago when Carey and Harwick were engaged to be married, only for their short union to end seemingly just as quickly. The pair began dating in 2017, announcing their engagement the following year in 2018. Less than one year later, the two broke up, but the split seems to have been amicable. To allow Carey time to grieve and process what happened, TMZ also reports that Drew Carey's show The Price is Right has halted production temporarily, with all of the scheduled tapings for this week now cancelled. Tuesday and Wednesday's tapings are officially off the board and audience members with tickets to attend were recently informed with an email of the cancellations.

Following Harwick's death, Carey released an official statement to the media to express his heartbreak. "Amie and I had a love that people are lucky to have once in a lifetime. She was a positive force in the world, a tireless and unapologetic champion for women, and passionate about her work as a therapist," Carey says. He adds: "I am overcome with grief. I would like to thank you in advance for giving myself and everyone who loved Amie privacy while we try to work through this tragic situation."

Fortunately, police have their suspect in custody, as Harwick's ex-boyfriend Gareth Pursehouse has been arrested for the killing and was booked on murder charges. He was located and placed under arrest after investigators observed evidence of forced entry and a struggle inside Harwick's home, also utilizing local surveillance footage from the neighborhood which captured the suspect on video. Officers also found Harwick had prior problems with Pursehouse and recently filed a restraining order against him, which expired just two weeks ago. Harwick had reportedly seen him since and expressed concerns for her safety.

It's a truly heartbreaking story and the grief currently felt by Carey and everyone else who best knew Harwick is unimaginable. We offer our condolences to them at this time. With the alleged murderer in custody, hopefully the family will see justice be done when Pursehouse faces a judge and jury for this senseless and sinister murder. Hopefully they will also get some answers as to why there wasn't more done in the lead-up to the crime, considering the restraining order and Harwick's concerns. As for Harwick, may she forever rest in peace. This news comes to us from TMZ.
