Fran Drescher wants to do a reboot of The Nanny with Cardi B as her daughter. Drescher is into the idea of a reboot and believes that the networks really don't know what they're doing when it comes to putting new material out to the public. The Nanny originally aired on CBS from 1993 to 1999 and starred Drescher as a Jewish fashion queen who becomes the nanny of three high class children in New York City.
In a recent interview, Fran Drescher revealed The Nanny reboot idea with Cardi B. The two seem like they would be pretty perfect together on screen. Plus, the popstar has flexed her comedic muscles on an episode of Zach Galifianakis' Between Two Ferns with Jerry Seinfeld. In her typical comedic voice and attitude, Drescher revealed what she wants to do with the reboot. She had this to say.
"I'm totally down with doing it. I don't know what is going on with some of these networks out there because they do not seem to be hip to the fact that there's an obsession amongst millennials for the show and moi!... I wanna do a sitcom with Cardi B. Wouldn't she be great as my daughter?"
The Cardi B and Fran Drescher idea didn't just come out of thin air. The popstar recently posted a picture of herself on social media wearing an outfit that resembled something that Dresher would wear on the show and tagged the actress in the photo. That image blew Drescher away and admits that she was "flattered." That post is what initially gave the actress the idea for The Nanny reboot. She explains.
"And then I got my juices flowing and thought, Wait a minute, she's from New York, we both have funny voices, she could be my daughter! Not from me and Mr. Sheffield, I would have to have a man of color. I'm down with the brothers."
Cardi B appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon back in December of this year and she was dressed again in something that Fran Drescher would have worn on The Nanny. In addition, she had a similar hair style that was not lost on social media users, who instantly went online to say that the popstar and Drescher should get together for a project. Or, just have Cardi B starring in a remake of the show, which would also be a pretty great idea.
The Nanny reboot is not officially happening at this point in time, even though Fran Drescher believes that the younger generation wants one. However, with all of this Cardi B talk, a network might perk up its ears to try and get a deal going. At the very least, we could see Funny or Die make a skit or possibly even Saturday Night Live. Cardi B and Fran Drescher should at the very least meet up and share some fashion tips. The interview with Fran Drescher was originally conducted by People Magazine.
