A fan-favorite character may have just very quietly made his way back to the Star Wars universe. The first episode of The Mandalorian recently dropped alongside the launch of Disney+. It serves as the first ever live-action TV show set within the franchise, which makes it a pretty big deal, but it also didn't disappoint as a way to open up this universe in ways we've never seen before. There were also quite a few interesting hidden Easter eggs, perhaps the biggest being this alleged cameo in question.

Warning: spoilers ahead for The Mandalorian episode one. Reviews for The Mandalorian Premiere episode have been fairly positive, but perhaps there is more going on than meets the eye. Roughly halfway through the episode, Pedro Pascal's Mando, who still remains nameless, cuts a deal for a mysterious and dangerous bounty with Werner Herzog's character, who also remains nameless for the time being. As part of the down payment, Pascal ends up with some Beskar steel, which is important to Mandalorian culture. He then heads to see an ally in a seedy den seemingly devoted to allies of the Mandalorians. It's here where we may very well be seeing our first official glimpse at Boba Feet in a post-Return of the Jedi world.

Before meeting up with the mystery figure who makes some armor for our protagonist with the Beskar, he walks through a doorway. At the 18:31 mark of the episode, we see a figure standing in the doorway to the right of the screen who, upon closer inspection, looks an awful lot like Boba Fett. The character is missing the yellow shoulder pads, but it's a darkly lit scene and it's all tough to make out. Though, what can be seen is convincing. Or it could just be a case of fans (myself included) seeing what they want to see. Even further, it could be that executive producer Jon Favreau and director Dave Filoni intentionally put this in there with just enough flare to make fans speculate.

If we're to assume, for a moment, this is indeed Boba Fett, that would be huge. When last we saw the famed bounty hunter, he fell into the Sarlacc pit in Return of the Jedi, presumably to be digested slowly for 1,000 years. But this is Boba Fett, one of the most feared bounty hunters in the galaxy, one trusted by Darth Vader. Fans have speculated for years that he must have managed to escape. And his actual escape has been shown in the original Marvel comic books that followed the release of Return of the Jedi in 1983, but his survival hasn't been made part of the current official canon, with Disney abandoning that storyline until we get a notice otherwise. This would, for the first time in the official Star Wars canon, provide proof that Boba Fett still walks among us. The show takes place roughly five years after Return of the Jedi and before The Force Awakens, so the timeline works out.

We've still got seven episodes of the show left before The Mandalorian season one concludes and one would imagine if this is Boba Fett, or someone else important, that we will explore that further in the weeks to come. Bringing back a beloved character such as this would certainly be one way to draw some extra attention to the show. The Mandalorian episode two arrives on Friday, November 15 on Disney+ streaming service.
