A couple of classic Star Wars bounty hunters may be getting in on the action in The Mandalorian. The first ever live-action TV series set in a galaxy far, far away is in production currently and, while Lucasfilm has slowly but surely let some details out into the world, they're keeping an especially tight lid on this project. However, thanks to a new report, we may have some tantalizing info for hardcore fans who want to see more ties to the original trilogy.

Warning: possible spoilers ahead for The Mandalorian. Also, we need to caution up front that, since this isn't coming directly from Lucasfilm or anyone related officially to the production, it needs to be regarded as a rumor for the time being. That said, it's being reported that both IG-88 and Bossk, two bounty hunters who appeared briefly alongside Boba Fett in The Empire Strikes Back, will appear in the series. IG-88 has reportedly been confirmed in more than a cameo, as the droid has been seen in action during filming. On the other side, a Trandoshan, the species that Bossk is associated with, is apparently in the series and all signs point toward it being Bossk.

What we know for sure is that the series is going to center on a lone gunslinger, played by Pedro Pascal (Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Game of Thrones) who is doing his thing in the Outer Rim. The series takes place following the events of Return of the Jedi and prior to the events of The Force Awakens. While specific plot details haven't yet been revealed, all signs point to this being the kind of show that would feature scum and villainy such as Bossk and IG-88. The report also states that The Droid Gotra, a group that has appeared in the Tarkin novel and in the Doctor Aphra comic book, will have a presence in The Mandalorian and that IG-88 will be associated with them.

Official cast members that have been announced by Lucasfilm also include Gina Carano, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Carl Weathers, Omid Abtahi, Werner Herzog, and Nick Nolte. Directors who are helming episodes of the series include Dave Filoni (The Clone Wars), Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones) and Bryce Dallas Howard who has mostly acted up to this point, but has directed several shorts in the past. Jon Favreau (Iron Man) is on board as the head writer and executive producer.

Bossk and IG-88, despite having little to no screen time in the actual movies, have remained relatively popular characters within the Star Wars universe and have been kept alive in the canon. Bossk, for example, was made to be a playable character in Star Wars Battlefront. As for their more famous bounty hunter counterpart Boba Fett? His presence hasn't yet been confirmed, but since we last saw him falling into the Sarlacc pit, it's highly likely the creative team would want to keep his role a secret, if he has any role at all.
