Fear not, Star Wars fans as you'll soon have the chance to spend some hard-earned money on Baby Yoda merch. The character in question has appeared in the first two episodes of The Mandalorian, the new live-action TV series, the first of its kind set within the iconic sci-fi franchise, which debuted on Disney+ earlier this month. As has historically been the case with Star Wars, toys and merchandise have been a big part of the equation and this new internet sensation will be no different.

According to a new report, retailers such as Amazon, Target, Zazzle, Hot Topic, Kohl's, Macy's and Box Lunch will soon be getting Baby Yoda merchandise. Some unofficial merch has already made its way online, but this will be the first wave of officially licensed products from Lucasfilm to feature the character. While there is plenty of merch from The Mandalorian already on shelves, this particular character served as something of a huge surprise and series producers Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni didn't want to spoil the it early.

Yoda is one of the most recognizable characters in the history of Star Wars, and one of the most popular. Yet, through all of the movies, novels, comics and video games, we've never truly learned much of anything about his species. It's a mystery. The Mandalorian has started to unravel that mystery via Baby Yoda. As of this writing, we're only two episodes into the show, with a third on the way, but the character doesn't yet have a name. However, its mere existence implies we're finally going to learn more about the species, which could provide some major insights for fans.

Most importantly though, the internet has truly taken to the character. Since it doesn't yet have an official name, referred to as the asset in the first two episodes, people took to calling it Baby Yoda. While we're sure to learn its name sooner or later, the brand is strong with this one. There are near countless memes and reaction posts all across social media dedicated to the little green fellow, also know as "The Child." All of this to say, if the online buzz is any indication, Lucasfilm is about to make a mint on this incoming merchandise.

There is no indication as to what products, specifically, will be hitting shelves as early as this Friday, save for a couple of shirts. The report also notes that further merch will be made available via the Disney Store, ShopDisney and at the Disney theme parks ahead of the holiday season. Pre-orders for that merch will be available soon. One would expect Lucasfilm to make a splashy announcement once some of the items come out, so be on the lookout for that. The Mandalorian is currently available to stream on Disney+, with new episodes debuting on Fridays through December 27, save for episode 7, which debuts on Wednesday, December 18.
