The Haunting of Bly Manor Trailer #2 Brings Big Scares To Netflix This HalloweenThe Haunting of Bly Manor will begin streaming next month on Netflix, and the streamer has just released the official trailer for the anticipated horror series. The new series serves as a followup to Mike Flanagan's The Haunting of Hill House, which became an instant hit when it debuted on Netflix in 2018. Following the release of a teaser last month, the new full trailer gives us a much better look at what Flanagan has in store for us this time around. You can watch it below.

Per the official synopsis, the series follows a new story as "Henry Wingrave (Henry Thomas) hires a young American nanny (Victoria Pedretti) to care for his orphaned niece and nephew (Amelie Bea Smith, Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) who reside at Bly Manor with the estate's chef Owen (Rahul Kohli), groundskeeper Jamie (Amelia Eve) and housekeeper, Mrs. Grose (T'Nia Miller). But all is not as it seems at the manor, and centuries of dark secrets of love and loss are waiting to be unearthed in this chilling gothic romance. At Bly Manor, dead doesn't mean gone."

The Haunting of Bly Manor will present a standalone ghost story with no major connections to the first series. The new show stars Victoria Pedretti, Henry Thomas, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Kate Siegel, T'Nia Miller, Rahul Kohli, Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, Amelie Smith, and Amelia Eve. While Pedretti, Jackson-Cohen, Thomas, and Siegel all appeared in The Haunting of Hill House, they'll be playing new characters in The Haunting of Bly Manor. Along with Intrepid Pictures partner Trevor Macy, Flanagan also executive produces the series alongside Amblin Television's Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey.

It's not easy for any new horror television series to become such a runaway hit, but The Haunting of Hill House was a huge success immediately when it premiered two years ago. Critics love the series almost unanimously, as it is sitting at 93% certified fresh at Rotten Tomatoes. Even Quentin Tarantino said he was a big fan of the show, claiming in an interview that his "favorite Netflix series, with no competition, is The Haunting of Hill House."

While The Haunting of Hill House was based on the original Shirley Jackson novel of the same name, The Haunting of Bly Manor will take inspiration from another classic horror story. It is loosely based on the 1898 novella The Turn of the Screw by Henry James, following a governess caring for two children at a remote estate that she believes is haunted. The story has since been adapted in many other mediums, which includes the 1961 movie The Innocents. More recently, it served as the inspiration for the 2020 horror movie The Turning from Universal Pictures.

Along with working on horror shows for Netflix, Flanagan is also known for writing and directing the Stephen King movie adaptations for Gerald's Game and Doctor Sleep. He also helmed other genre hits like Oculus and Hush. The Haunting of Bly Manor will start streaming on Netflix on Oct. 9. The new trailer comes to us from Netflix on YouTube.
