Cicada is going to make life for Barry Allen very tough in Season 5 of The Flash. The Flash Team came together to protect Central City from the Thinker in Season 4, but the arrival of Allen's daughter Nora from the future has put a big wrinkle in the timeline after she admits to making a mistake. The stakes have never been higher for Allen and his team with the addition of the mysterious Cicada and his black lightning bolt-shaped dagger.

The big mistake that Nora is referring to in the latest trailer for The Flash could have some pretty big connections to the arrival of Cicada. It seems that Barry Allen defeated Cicada once before in the future, but Nora's mistake is preventing it from happening in the present, which reportedly puts Cisco Ramon/Vibe in danger. The name of the first episode is The Death of Vibe, but it looks like there may be more to the story than previously thought.

In The Death of Vibe episode from Season 5 of The Flash, Cicada is targeting a member of Team Flash, presumably Vibe. After Cicada's attack on The Flash, the team realizes that a new thought process is going to have to be implemented in order to stand a chance against the semi-immortal villain. Nora desperately wants to help the situation and comes up with a plan that puts one of the members of the team in grave danger. Since it's a plan, and it's The Flash, that could very well mean that Vibe is able to be resurrected somehow, or that he doesn't really die. Vibe is a pretty important component to the show, so it seems hard to believe that he would be killed off.

Cicada was created by Geoff Johns in 2001 and is an apparent immortal who murdered his wife during a thunderstorm in the early twentieth century. He instantly felt great regret and tried to kill himself afterwards. However, he was struck by lightning instead, which gave him his powers. Years after that, he forms a cult, which focuses on murdering people who have been saved by The Flash, stealing their life-force, which prolongs Cicada's life. The villain also has the ability to disable the power of others, which will certainly throw a monkey wrench into The Flash Season 5.

The Flash stars Grant Gustin as Barry Allen/The Flash, Candice Patton as Iris West, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramo, Hartley Sawyer as Ralph Dibny, Jessica Parker Kennedy as Nora West-Allen, Danielle Nicolet as Cecile Horton, Tom Cavanagh as Dr. Harrison Wells, and Jesse L. Martin as Detective Joe West. Chris Klein plays the villainous Cicada in Season 5. The show returns to TV on October 9th, which is just around the corner.
