The CW Network has put their proposed Wonder Woman series Amazon on hold, rolling it into the 2014 season's development cycle. There is the possibility that the network may order an off-cycle pilot, if they are pleased with the final script.
We first reported on this project back in September, when The CW Network announced they were developing the pilot script, written by Allan Heinberg (Grey's Anatomy). The pilot will focus on a much younger version of the Diana of Themyscira character, telling her origin story. The network had began preliminary casting in November, although it was ultimately decided that the project needs more time in development.
The CW just completed its pilot orders for the 2013-2014 season with eight pickups, including The Vampire Diaries spin-off The Originals, and The Selection. The CW originally ordered a pilot for The Selection last year, although it was ultimately shelved and re-written for a second pilot, which was picked up last week.
Amazon is said to be a priority at the network, which wants another superhero show as a companion to this year's hit series Arrow.
