The Conners is continuing the Halloween tradition this year with a brand-new holiday-themed episode There Won't Be Blood. The original Roseanne series ran a Halloween show every year, except for the very first season of the show back in 1988. The new spooky-themed episode has been teased over the last few weeks, but we're not entirely sure what will happen in the episode, except for the fact that Matthew Broderick will be introduced as a potential love interest for Aunt Jackie and that Mark's Halloween costume isn't allowed at school.

It was announced a few weeks ago that Matthew Broderick had signed on to play Jackie's love interest on The Conners. His character's name is Peter, and he's appearing for the first time in the annual Halloween episode, which is entitled There Won't Be Blood. Metcalf's Jackie character wants Dan to vet Peter, but ends up regretting the request by the end of the episode for unknown reasons. While other details about Broderick's character are a mystery, he will be a recurring character for the rest of the season.

In addition to the annual Halloween episode, The Conners was recently given an extra episode order from the network, which bodes well for a potential second season. Instead of the original 10 episodes, the first season will now have 11 episodes. The spin-off had much lower ratings than the premiere episode of the Roseanne revival series, but that was to be expected. The Conners brought in nearly as many viewers as the series finale from the revival series, and saw a 26 percent ratings dip this week, which was more than likely due to the fact that the World Series started that night as well.

The Conners made the difficult decision to carry on without Roseanne Barr and ended up killing off her character in the end. Roseanne Conner died of an opioid overdose, which has been seen as controversial ever since the decision was made public. However, the show spent nearly all of the first episode paying tribute to the former main character in a fitting way, while also saying goodbye. Barr sent out a racist tweet that got the Roseanne revival series cancelled in a matter of days, after the show had just been renewed for a new season.

While the ghost of Roseanne Conner looms large over The Conners, it's evident that the studio is more than happy with the viewers that the show has been able to pull in over the last two weeks. A second season has not been officially revealed at this time, but it seems that one will be announced after the first season wraps. While we take time to wonder about a second season, it's awesome to know that the spin-off is carrying on the tradition of the annual Halloween episode this year with There Won't Be Blood.
