Today is a great day for fans of The Boys, as Amazon Prime Video has released the official trailer and key art for the anticipated second season. Anticipating striking it big with the series before it even premiered, Amazon had already put in the order for a second season ahead of last year's series premiere. The popular series will soon be returning in September exclusively on Amazon Prime Video, premiering on Friday, Sept. 4, with new episodes to follow on each Friday thereafter. You can watch the new trailer for The Boys season 2 below.

In the second season, The Boys are "on the run from the law, hunted by the Supes, and desperately trying to regroup and fight back against Vought. In hiding, Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother's Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) try to adjust to a new normal, with Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, Starlight (Erin Moriarty) must navigate her place in The Seven as Homelander (Antony Starr) sets his sights on taking complete control. His power is threatened with the addition of Stormfront (Aya Cash), a social media-savvy new Supe, who has an agenda of her own. On top of that, the Supervillain threat takes center stage and makes waves as Vought seeks to capitalize on the nation's paranoia."

Expect to see many familiar faces from the first season returning in the upcoming new episodes. Also featured in season 2 will be Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott), A-Train (Jessie T. Usher), The Deep (Chace Crawford), and Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell). Recurring stars will include Claudia Doumit, Goran Visnijc, Malcolm Barrett, Colby Minifie, Shantel VanSanten, Cameron Crovetti, PJ Byrne, and Laila Robbins. Fan favorite actor Giancarlo Esposito will also be back as Vought boss Stan Edgar.

The Boys is based on the comic book of the same name from Dynamite Comics. It is unlike most other superhero stories, set in a universe where the world's greatest superheroes are in actuality corrupt. This group of Avengers-like superheroes, called the Seven, are owned by the powerful corporation Vought International. Meanwhile, a group of vigilantes known as the Boys can be seen as the city's true heroes, as their goal is to keep the corrupted superheroes under control. The group is led by Billy Butcher, a man who utterly despises all superpowered people, and the series begins with two new members joining the group after their own horrifying ordeals with the Seven.

Season 2 of The Boys will premiere its three episodes on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, Sept. 4. The remaining five episodes will debut on the following Fridays, concluding with the season finale on Oct. 9. Better yet, we already know that season 2 won't be the end, as The Boys has already been renewed for its third season ahead of the second season's premiere. Clearly, Amazon has realized they have something special on their hands, so they're running with it. The official trailer for season 2 of The Boys comes to us from Amazon Prime Video on YouTube.
