Amazon Prime Video has released a brand new trailer for the The Boys season 2. We recently got a look at some clips from the show's upcoming return, as well as a confirmation of a fall premiere. But this trailer is far and away our most comprehensive look at the violent superhero mayhem coming our way later this year. As the trailer reveals, the dial has been cranked to 11 with absolutely no punches being pulled. And, as a fair warning, this is most definitely NSFW.
The trailer kicks off with the country searching high and low for Billy Butcher and his associates. The Supes, meanwhile, are none too happy with them and are on a quest for vengeance, out to prove that the world still needs superheroes. The footage is action-packed, violent and most definitely of the R-rated variety. Plus, it's all set to the tone of We Didn't Start the Fire by Billy Joel. Those concerned that the creative team was going to tone things down in season 2 quite obviously have nothing to worry about.
Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (Preacher, Future Man) produce the series. Homelander (Antony Starr), Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott), A-Train (Jessie T. Usher), The Deep (Chace Crawford), Starlight (Erin Moriarty) and Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell) make up The Supes. Jack Quaid, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capon, Karen Fukuhara and Karl Urban are also returning to reprise their roles. Claudia Doumit, Goran Visnijc, Malcolm Barrett, Colby Minifie, Shantel VanSanten, Cameron Crovetti, PJ Byrne, Laila Robbins and Giancarlo Esposito round out the ensemble for season 2.
The Boys season 2 picks up with the gang on the run from the law and being hunted by the Supes. They are trying to regroup and fight back against Vought, with Hughie, Mother's Milk, Frenchie and Kimiko in hiding as they attempt to adjust to a new normal. Meanwhile, Billy Butcher is nowhere to be found. Over with the Supes, Starlight is trying to find her place in The Seven as Homelander sets his sights on assuming control. His power is threatened with the addition of Stormfront (Aya Cash), a new social media-savvy hero who has an agenda of her own. On top of that, the Supervillain threat takes center stage, with Vought aiming to capitalize on the country's paranoia.
In its first season, The Boys proved to be a huge hit for Amazon. Based on Garth Ennis' comic book series, the company was quick to hand out a renewal. Season 3 already seems likely at this point. The show will be making a big change this year though. The Boys season 2 will debut its first three episodes on Friday, September 4. New episodes will be available each Friday after that, culminating with the finale on October 9, available exclusively on the Amazon Prime Video streaming service. Be sure to check out the new trailer for yourself.
