Sad news for horror fans! The CW has officially passed on the Tales from the Darkside revival. A reboot of the popular 80s anthology series has been in development since November 2013. It is not exactly clear why The CW passed, and it's possible that the show could move to another network or digital streaming platform.

Joe Hill, the author of Horns, Locke & Key and the son of celebrated novelist Stephen King, wrote the pilot script, while serving as an executive producer alongside Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. The author had publicly raved about the pilot, and the revival had been gaining quite a lot of traction among fans. While the pilot is said to have been well executed, The CW was uncertain about the anthology format, even though season long anthologies have been working for FX with shows such as American Horror Story and Fargo. The new Tales from the Darkside series, as it currently stood, was also desperately in need of a showrunner.

The pilot introduces one regular character named Newman, played by Kris Lemche. He is described as a 'weathered and tortured soul' and is a guide to all those who come across 'The Darkside'. Newman is a man with secrets, and knowns exactly what is driving the 'Darkside Events' in the series. He also knows how to stop them. The original series began airing in 1983 and continued throughout 1988. It was created by father of the zombies George A. Romero. The similarly themed British important anthology series Black Mirror has been extremely popular on Netflix...Maybe they'll take a chance on the Tales from the Darkside revival?
