There is a whole lot of mystery surrounding season 13 of the CW's Supernatural and a whole of weird stuff that's apparently about to get a lot weirder thanks to the footage that was released at San Diego Comic-Con. In addition to those weird events including a Scooby-Doo crossover animated episode, the cult favorite show is going to attempt yet anther spin-off. But this time it's going to center on Sheriff Jody Mills (Kim Rhodes) and is entitled Wayward Sisters.

The news comes to us via Warner Bros. Television, where they have announced that the core cast have just closed deals to join the cast of Wayward Sisters. Briana Buckmaster who plays Sheriff Donna Hanscum, Kathryn Newton who plays the older version of Claire Novak, and Katherine Ramdeen who plays Annie Jones from the original cast of Supernatural will join Rhodes in the new show that is expected to have a backdoor pilot during Supernatural Season 13. Clark Backo has also joined the cast to play a newly created character.

Wayward Sisters will tell the story of Sheriff Jody Mills and a group of troubled young women. All of the young women are orphans due to a supernatural tragedy and they will join forces to go up against the supernatural under the guidance, protection, and training from Mills. The show differs from the biological Winchester brothers on Supernatural by having a sisterhood of girls in a foster family. In addition, Sheriff Donna Handscum will also be involved with the show as a close friend to Sheriff Mills. The spin-off was announced earlier this, but this is the first news of casting that has been officially released.

Claire Novak was introduced to the supernatural world when her father became the vessel for the angel Castiel. Now, a gifted hunter, she lives with Jody, but struggles against her rules. Also taken in under Jody's wing, Alex Jones was rescued by the Winchesters from a family of vampires who used her as a lure for unsuspecting humans. Traumatized by the violence, she has resolved not to hunt...until a threat emerges in Sioux Falls that threatens her new family.

A new member of the Wayward Sisterhood is the character Patience, a high school over-achiever whose life is turned upside down when she discovers she's a powerful psychic, a gift she inherited from her estranged grandmother (and season one Supernatural character) Missouri Moseley. Hunted by dark forces for her power, Patience finds refuge with Jody and her wayward family.

In addition to the Wayward Sisters casting, it was also announced that Lawrence, Kansas psychic Missouri Moseley (played by Loretta Devine, The Carmichael Show), who made a memorable appearance as a Winchester family friend in the season one episode "Home," will also return to Supernatural this season, in an episode to be announced later.

This is not the first time that a Supernatural spin-off has been attempted. During season 9, a backdoor pilot called Bloodlines aired and soon became one of the most hated episodes out of all of the cult shows episodes. But Wayward Sisters is already something that fans have wanted to see, so it's pretty much a no-brainer to continue. Supernatural returns for its 13th season on Thursday, October 12, in a new time period 8/7c on The CW. So keep an eye out for the 16th episode to get your first look at the Wayward Sisters.
