The CW has released a new trailer for Supernatural season 15. All good things must come to an end, even Supernatural. Viewers have been following the Winchesters for 15 years as they cross the lonely and mysterious back roads of the country in beloved Impala as they hunt down evil forces. But season 15 is set to be the last ride for Sam and Dean, with the final run of episodes coming our way in October. As we can see in this trailer, things are going to get emotional and the stakes are higher than ever. The boys are literally on a mission against God.

Though brief, the trailer kicks off with a hugely emotional moment between Sam and Dean. There is a ton of apocalyptic imagery, with the stakes presented as nothing short of monumental. They still manage to find some moments of levity but it is hard to get over the fact that the boys are seemingly going to come up against God. More specifically, a mission to kill God. While it isn't revealed how, precisely, the boys will factor into this insane plot it seems the network saved the biggest foe for the final run of episodes.

Season 15 will return with a new episode titled Last Holiday. It sees Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) discover a wood nymph (Meagan Fey) living in the bunker who is determined to protect her family, at any cost. Eduardo Sanchez directed the episode, which was written by Jeremy Adams. The show also stars Misha Collins as Castiel and Alexander Calvert as Jack. Robert Singer, Andrew Dabb, Eugenie Ross-Leming, Brad Buckner and Bob Berens serve as executive producers.

Sad as it may be for fans to say goodbye to the show, its stars already have other major projects lined up that may help to fill the void. Jared Padalecki is set to star in a reboot of Walker, Texas Ranger, which is also being produced by The CW. The show is set to premiere in early 2021. Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that Jensen Ackles landed a big role in The Boys season 3. The Amazon series is bringing in Ackles as Solider Boy for the upcoming season of the violent superhero series. Even though it will be on radically different shows, Padalecki and Ackles won't be off the air for long.

Production on the final season hit a snag when most filming in Hollywood had to shut down in March. As such, the final batch of episodes was delayed by months. But the network recently confirmed a fall return. Supernatural debuted in 2005 and is currently one of the longest-running shows on TV. It has been a mainstay of The CW, garnering a huge, passionate fanbase over the years. Season 14 brought the series over the 300 episode threshold, an accomplishment very few live-action, scripted shows can claim. Supernatural season 15 returns for its final 7 episodes on Thursday, October 8 on The CW. Be sure to check out the new trailer for yourself.
