Supernatural star Jensen Ackles shared the last picture he has of himself with the rest of the show's stars on set together. The hit series was in the middle of shooting its final episodes when it was forced to shut down production, due to current events. While the show is not alone in having to cease operations, it came at an interesting time, since the show is set to come to an end. Season 15 still has 7 more episodes to air, with two more left to shoot.

The aforementioned Supernatural photo features Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester) joined by his series co-stars Jared Padalecki (Sam Winchester), Misha Collins (Castiel), and Alexander Calvert (Jack). They are all leaned up against the Winchesters' iconic Chevy Impala, which has its headlights on. Ackles had this to say in the image's caption: "Unfortunately, this is the last pic I have of all of us on set together. Our faces say it all. The uncertainty, the emotion, the fear of not knowing how it will all go..."

In addition to posting the photo, Jensen Ackles also reached out to say happy birthday to his co-star Jared Padalecki, wishing they could spend the day together. Padalecki's birthday was July 19th. Ackles wondered how his co-star, "will handle a birthday without us." He went on to add, "You'll be just fine, buck-o. We'll be back in that beautiful car to celebrate soon enough. (Hopefully). Happy Birthday, brother. See ya soon." The "hopefully" part may cause some concern, but the Supernatural cast and crew are trying to get back on track to finish the series. There's just a lot of uncertainty around everything at the moment.

There are two more Supernatural episodes left to shoot and then a ton of post-production work on the final seven episodes to complete. While many have looked at the production halt as bad news, Jensen Ackles has been looking at it under a positive light, noting that it gives them more time to think and reflect on the show, which would have already come to an end by now. It's also a way of keeping the tight-knit cast and crew together for a bit longer, while giving fans something to look forward to at the same time.

Supernatural has a rabid fan base who are disappointed about the show coming to an end and who are more than a little disappointed to be kept in limbo too. With that being said, there are reportedly some surprises along the way that should make up for everything. As for what those surprises are, executive producer Andrew Dabb wouldn't say, only noting that they "have some special treats coming along the way -- to help us all get through this." There's still a lot to look forward to in the world of Supernatural. In the meantime, you can check out the last picture of the cast together above, thanks to Jensen Ackles' Instagram account.
