The cast and crew of Supernatural are hard at work filming the long-running show's last episode ever, and series stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles posted some rather emotional messages as they prepared for the end. Since 2005, Padalecki and Ackles have been portraying Sam and Dean Winchester, a pair of brothers who specialize in hunting supernatural beings of all kinds. After a long and successful run on television, the popular show is now set to bow out with its fifteenth and final season.

Taking to Instagram, Jared Padalecki posted a photo of himself giving a thumbs up, also revealing that work had begun on the show's final episode. "As I head out to the first day on my LAST season finale, I can't help but be incredibly grateful for all that #Supernatural and the #SPNFamily mean to me," Padalecki says in the caption. "It's been an incredible journey, to say the least. I, for one, am hoping that #SupernaturalNeverDies."

Meanwhile, Jensen Ackles posted a moving video of himself on the verge of tears speaking about the beginning of the end in a video posted to his own Instagram account. "So, last night, we completed 326 episodes of Supernatural. At the very end of every one of those scripts are three words: 'To be continued.' Today, we start episode number 327, and at the very bottom of the very last page of this script, there are only two words," Ackles explains. He then unveils those two words to the camera, which sadly read, "THE END."

A new teaser trailer for the remaining episodes of Supernatural season 15 has also been released, giving fans a sneak peek into what the final episodes will have in store. It looks as though the Winchesters will be facing their biggest challenge yet as the two brothers somehow wind up on a mission to kill God. How our characters get to that point remains to be seen. When the show returns, it will begin with the new episode "Last Holiday," which will guest star Meagan Fay as a wood nymph living in the bunker who is determined to protect her family at all costs.

The CW will premiere the first of the final seven episodes of Supernatural on Thursday, Oct. 8. Especially for the longtime fans who've been watching for the past fifteen years, it's very sad to see the series come to an end, but let's hope reunion specials in the future won't be out of the question. In any case, it's clearly not any easier for the cast to say goodbye to the series either, but all good things must come to an end.

Fortunately, we can also look forward to seeing Padalecki and Ackles both showing up in many other places as well, as the Supernatural stars have since become household names. Padalecki has already lined up the starring role in a Walker, Texas Ranger reboot, while Ackles is set to join the third season of Amazon's popular superhero series The Boys.
