With the Supernatural Season 13 premiere just around the corner, The CW debuted a new static and motion poster for the upcoming season, which features the Winchester Brothers and a somewhat surprising addition, Castiel (Misha Collins). For those who may not be caught up with the series yet, there will be SPOILERS below, but this poster teases that this season will represent the, "Dawn of Darkness," which certainly seems to have some ominous overtones for the upcoming episodes. This is your last chance to avoid SPOILERS from last season, so read on at your own risk.
The Supernatural Season 12 finale saw Crowley (Mark Sheppard) sacrificing himself, while Castiel was killed by Lucifer. The powerful Nephilim was born and Mary Winchester (Samantha Smith) was trapped in a different world with the Devil. Death isn't always as final as one might think on Supernatural though, with executive producer Andrew Dabb revealing in a new TV Line interview that fans have not seen the last of Castiel. Here's what he had to say below.
"Death is not the end for Castiel. That being said, when we pick up our season he's more dead than people usually get on our show. Castiel has a big role to play for us, but that may not be as soon as some people are hoping."
The executive producer added that the Winchester brothers are "reeling" from losing both their friend Castiel and their mother Mary in the Season 12 finale, although Andrew Dabb wouldn't clarify any details about Castiel's supposed revival. He did add that the brothers are still trying to be a father figure to the offspring of Lucifer. Here's what the producer had to say below.
There's no one they can call, so our guys are a bit on their own, a little spun out, both emotionally and in terms of the plot. (They're also) acting as parents (to Lucifer's) walking atomic bomb offspring. There are parts of him and things he does that they really love, and there are parts of him and things he does that worry them a bit."
Andrew Dabb also added that Mary tries to flee from Lucifer's grasp, although it doesn't quite go as she had planned, while Lucifer learns that he "may not be the most powerful creature" in this unusual world. We learned back in May that there will be a Scooby-Doo animated episode of Supernatural this season, and it was confirmed at Comic-Con 2017 that it will be the 16th episode of the season. While we wait for more on Supernatural Season 13, take a look at the static and motion poster below.
