The CW has announced that the final 7 episodes of Supernatural will air this fall. In addition to the highly anticipated final episodes, a brand-new hour-long retrospective, titled Supernatural: The Long Way Home, will air before the series finale. While the network announced when the show will return, they did not specify when production on the final two episodes will start back up or where it will take place. With that being said, fans of the beloved show will more than likely just be happy to hear that the final season will be completed.

Supernatural season 15 will air its final episodes beginning Thursday, October 8th, with the series finale airing on Thursday, November 19th. The show will air at 9pm ET/PT, with Supernatural: The Long Way Home premiering before the final episode at 8pm ET/PT. Production on the series was halted back in March because of the public health crisis. At the time, they had just started on the penultimate episode. The last new episode aired on March 23rd, with the network deciding to shelve the rest until they could safely get back to work.

During an interview from earlier this year, Supernatural star Jensen Ackles was optimistic about season 15 halting. While a lot fans were scared that the show might not get the proper ending it deserves, it appears that was never a though that went through anyone's mind behind-the-scenes. Ackles though that the time off would be better for the writing of the final two episodes, along with morale amongst the cast and crew, who have had more time to reflect on what the show means to them.

Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins announced that Supernatural season 15 was going to be the last while fighting back tears on social media. They have created a tight-knit family and clearly did not want the show to come to an end, though they knew it was what was best for all parties involved. Even though it's the end, one can imagine that the cast will still reunite for events in the near future. For now, the focus is back on the end and getting everything right for the final two episodes, which will hopefully be pretty easy and safe to pull off.

The fifteenth and final season of Supernatural premiered on The CW on October 10th, 2019. The series was initially set to conclude in May 2020, but a hiatus occurred after the March 23rd episode owing to production delays caused by the public health crisis. While the wait has probably been hard on some fans, it has to be nice to have something to look forward to at the same time. We should get a production update in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for some news on that soon. The CW was the first to announce the Supernatural season 15 premiere dates for the final 7 episodes.
