The CW has released a brand new teaser trailer for Superman & Lois. This is the latest show joining the ArrowVerse family on the network. Even though it may or may not be called the ArrowVerse moving forward, now that Arrow has wrapped up its run. In any event, Tyler Hoechlin's Superman is getting to headline a series alongside Elizabeth Tulloch's Lois Lane. This teaser offers our best look yet at the series, which appears to be quite unlike any other DC show currently airing on the network. This will be a family affair.
This is very much a teaser, containing little information about the story at hand and not much in the way of real-deal footage. Instead, it's a lot of animation, with some footage spliced in of Superman, Lois and their kids. Tyler Hoechlin's Clark Kent provides some voiceover throughout the teaser, which does a lot of heavy lifting in terms of setting up the kind of story fans will encounter. Hoechlin says the following in the trailer.
"We all begin as one version of ourselves. But as we grow, life changes us. Every moment, shaping our character. Shifting our priorities. Stretching every fiber of our being until we think we've lost ourselves to the stress of it all. But that's not true because under the torn fibers is a stronger person, forged like steel, with the courage to fight for those we love. And what we thought was lost, can be found in family."
Superman & Lois will center on the world's most famous superhero and DC's most famous journalist as they deal with all the stress, pressures and complexities that come with being working parents in today's society. Yes, there will be superhero action at play here but the show will largely be taking a new approach by focusing on the notion of parenthood in the DC universe. But, perhaps most importantly, it will give Tyler Hoechlin a chance to lead the way. The actor first appeared as Superman in episodes of Supergirl before making his way to the crossover events. Now, it's time for the Man of Steel to take the spotlight on the small screen once again, with Lois Lane by his side.
The cast also includes Jordan Elsass and Alexander Garfin as the sons of Clark and Lois. The ensemble is rounded out by Dylan Walsh (General Sam Lane), Emmanuelle Chriqui (Lana Lang) and Erik Valdez (Kyle Cushing). Todd Helbing (The Flash), serves as a writer and executive producer of the series. Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Geoff Johns are also on board as executive producers.
Arrow, as mentioned, wrapped up its final season earlier this year. Supergirl is also set to wrap up its run with season 6, and Black Lightning will end with season 4. But the network has no plans of abandoning the DC universe yet. This show will hopefully help fill the void in the coming years. Superman & Lois premieres on February 23.
