The CW has revealed our first look at Tyler Hoechlin in his new Superman suit for the upcoming spinoff series Superman & Lois. Although we've previously seen Hoechlin's take on the character make his debut in the Arrowverse series Supergirl, the spinoff will update his red-and-blue tights with a few cosmetic changes to help make Superman look his best moving forward. Hoechlin has also spoken about his new suit in a statement along with the need to develop a new outfit for his new show.

"I find that the new suit is representative of the show," Tyler Hoechlin said. "Just as this suit is unique and set apart from the ones that preceded it, the story we're telling about Clark/Superman at this point in his life is unique and something we've never seen before. I appreciate the opportunity to wear the suit and the responsibility that comes with it."

The actor adds: "I come from the world of baseball and a line of coaches that always preached that the name on the front of the jersey is more important than the one on the back. Because when you wear that jersey, it represents not only you, but your entire team, and everyone that has ever worn that jersey that came before you. So when I wear the suit, that's what it means to me. It represents everything that Superman stands for and has stood for, for almost a century now. And I look forward to carrying on that tradition."

For Superman & Lois, the beloved superhero's suit was {NEb1kSr0Xhxsee||designed by Laura Jean Shannon" and built by her L.A.-based Supersuits team in collaboration with Creative Character Engineering. The idea behind its design was to pay homage to the classic red-and-blue look the iconic character has come to be synonymous with while simultaneously updating the suit with modern techniques and applications.

"We got Superman into some custom athletic inspired Super-Boots as a 'jumping off point' and focused on a new neckline and cape to maximize the billowing and movement we all love to see in the books and films that have defined this character for generations," Shannon said. "A streamlined muscle structure and updated paint job combined with some dynamic design lines and a sculpted armored belt all took his established custom fabric into a new direction to solidify the new look for Superman in Superman & Lois."

Superman & Lois is developed for television by Todd Helbing and Greg Berlanti. The show will see the titular characters as they "deal with all the stress, pressures and complexities that come with being working parents in today's society." It is the latest new chapter of the ever-expanding Arrowverse, which also includes other hit titles like Arrow, The Flash, Batwoman, and Supergirl.

The CW is also promising another sneak peek of Hoechlin alongside co-star Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane coming this week, so fans will also want to be on the lookout for that ahead of the show's premiere early next year. Superman & Lois is scheduled to premiere on The CW on Feb. 23, 2021.
