During Supergirl's first season on CBS, the series brought on a former TV Superman, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman star Dean Cain, and a former big-screen Kara Zor-El Helen Slater, to play the foster parents of the new Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist). Today we have word that Supergirl is bringing in the other major star from Lois & Clark, actress Teri Hatcher, for an unspecified villain role on the series. Teri Hatcher will have a multi-episode arc, although it isn't clear how many episodes she'll appear in, or when she'll make her debut on the hit CW series.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the casting news earlier today, although it remains unclear when The CW will reveal who she's playing. Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg revealed in a statement that he is thrilled to bring the actress on board, although he wouldn't reveal anything else about her character. Here's what Andrew Kreisberg had to say about this casting move below.

"No offense to any of the wonderful actresses who have also played the part, but Teri Hatcher is my all-time favorite Lois Lane. To have her come back to the SuperWorld in a completely different part is an unbelievable gift to me, (executive producer) Greg Berlanti, and the fans."

This isn't the first time Teri Hatcher has returned to the DC Comics world since Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman went off the air. In the final season of The CW's Smallville, the actress signed on to play Ella Lane, the mother of Lois Lane (Erica Durance). Of course, this will be her first time playing a villain in this DC Comics world, so hopefully we'll get more details about who she's playing soon. Teri Hatcher currently has a recurring role on CBS' The Odd Couple, and she is also filming Madness in the Method, which is directed by Jason Mewes

Her iconic character Lois Lane has not been seen on Supergirl yet, but she has been mentioned several times, and her sister Lucy Lane (Jenna Dewan-Tatum) and father Sam Lane (Glenn Morshower) have been featured on the show. Tyler Hoechlin has come aboard to play Kara Zor-El's now-famous cousin, Superman. It was mentioned in the Supergirl Season 2 premiere that Superman/Clark Kent is still dating Lois Lane. Fans will also have the Supergirl musical crossover with The Flash to look forward to, with The CW recently announcing that this two-part crossover will begin Monday, March 20 with the Supergirl episode and continue Tuesday, March 21 with The Flash episode. The crossover will only be introduced during the very end of the Supergirl episode, with most of the crossover happening during The Flash episode.
