Nickelodeon held their annual Kid's Choice Awards over the weekend in Inglewood, California, which was hosted by John Cena. Cena started off the broadcast by acknowledging the March for Our Lives demonstrations that had taken place earlier in the day all over North America, noting that kids had already made the day special. As for winners, Stranger Things won the Favorite TV Show award and Millie Bobby Brown won the Favorite TV Actress award. She accepted the award and made a passionate speech about the March for Our Lives.

Stranger Things had some stiff competition in its category for Favorite TV Show. The hit Netflix series was pitted against The Big Bang Theory, The Flash, Fuller House, Henry Danger, K.C. Undercover, Saban's Power Rangers Ninja Steel, and The Thundermans. The news comes after all of the child stars of Stranger Things received raises for coming back for Season 3, with Millie Bobby Brown able to command more money per episode, placing her between her kid co-stars and the adults that star in the show.

Millie Bobby Brown won the Kid's Choice Award for Favorite TV Actress and used her spotlight to shed light on the March for Our Lives movement. Brown was dressed in a stylish outfit that was designed by Calvin Klein and featured the names of all 17 people who were killed during the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida. Additionally, her jacket also had the words "never again" stitched on the front. When she accepted her award, she had this to say.

"The March for Our Lives demonstrations that took place all over the world today have inspired me, and impacted all of us in one way or another. I'm fortunate to be here tonight to receive an award as an actor. I'm so grateful... for the opportunity that our show, Stranger Things, has created for me... I get to be up here, privileged to have a voice that can be heard and one that can hopefully make a positive difference and help influence change. There's an amazing support - a love and kindness in this room right now, and I want to tell everyone to embrace it and pass it on. For the angels among us, your spirit lives on."

Millie Bobby Brown's speech received an amazing reaction from the crowd, who probably weren't expecting to see something so serious at the normally lighthearted event. As previously noted, host John Cena started the Kid's Choice Awards by bringing up the March for Our Lives. Cena talked about the amazing job that kids had done already during the day. He explains.

"I know it's going to be an amazing night, but kids everywhere have already made it an amazing day."

We are clearly in the middle of a different time for kids all over the world who are being forced to grow up rapidly in light of recent tragedies. Nickelodeon's awards show is usually known for the fun and jokes, but last night was the kids taking control to lead by example. Stranger Things and Millie Bobby Brown will return to Netflix for Season 3 soon, with release date expected soon.
