It was just last week that the official trailer for the upcoming third season of Netflix and The Duffer Brothers' Stranger Things hit. As a pretty big fan of the series, I found the trailer to be epic and goosebump-inducing good times. And it seems like I'm not alone as today we have word that the trailer for Stranger Things 3 has been viewed more times than any other video on Netflix's official YouTube channel, sitting at over 21 million views.

The other top ten videos over on Netflix's YouTube channel that the trailer for Stranger Things 3 just easily trumped include promos for such hits as Bird Box, The Kissing Booth, Marvel's Jessica Jones, and 13 Reasons Why: Season 2. I have compiled the current top ten videos over on Netflix's YouTube channel so you can see just how big this new trailer has been for the streaming giant.

  • The current Top 10 videos go like this:
  • 1. Stranger Things 3 Official Trailer - 21m
  • 2. Stranger Things 2 Official Trailer - 19m
  • 3. Bird Box - Official Trailer: 18m
  • 4. The Kissing Booth Trailer - 18m
  • 5. Stranger Things 2 Super Bowl Ad - 16m
  • 6. Kaam 25: Divine - Sacred Games - 15m
  • 7. Reality High Official Trailer - 13m
  • 8. Hot Girls Wanted Official Trailer - 11m
  • 9. Marvel's Jessica Jones Official Trailer - 11m
  • 10. 13 Reasons Why: Season 2 Official Trailer - 10m

I'm not surprised to see the trailer for Stranger Things 3 putting up these kinds of numbers over on YouTube. That said, I am amazed that trailers and/or promotional materials for neither Orange is the New Black or BoJack Horseman are on the list at all. Sure Jessica Jones registers on the list above, but what about other (past) Netflix/Marvel series like Daredevil, Luke Cage, The Punisher, Iron Fist, or The Defenders? Not to mention shows that seem to be huge draws for the streaming giant such as The Crown, Lemony Snicket's A Series Of Unfortunate Events, House of Cards, Narcos, or my personal favorite Netflix original series, Santa Clarita Diet starring Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant.

But back to Stranger Things. Returning members of the cast this third time around the supernatural block include the original gang of ragtag kids with Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, and Noah Schnapp as Will Byers. They will no doubt be hanging out with Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven again this season, and Sadie Sink will rejoin as Maxine "Max" Mayfield. Max's brother will be back this season as well with Dacre Montgomery's Billy Hargrove, who will no doubt end up fighting with Charlie Heaton's Jonathan Byers over squishy-faced Natalia Dyer's Nancy Wheeler. They will all be joined by Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers and good ole David Harbour as Jim Hopper. And let's not forget my favorite character Steve Harrington played by Joe Keery.

All these fan favorites will be joined this third season by the likes of newcomers such as Maya Hawke (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Little Women), Francesca Reale (Yes, God, Yes), Jake Busey (Enemy of the State, The Frighteners), and Cary Elwes (Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Kiss the Girls). The third season of Netflix's Stranger Things will be hitting the streaming giant on the Fourth of July, 2019.
