The third season of The Duffer Brothers' hit sci-fi horror series Stranger Things is all set to bring the Upside Down back to Netflix on the Fourth of July, and we couldn't be more excited. It has been almost a full two years since the previous season Stranger Things 2 hit the streaming giant back on October 27, 2017. And today we have word via series star David Harbour aka Sheriff Jim Hopper that Stranger Things 3 is well worth the wait and that the final episode is the most emotionally powerful, unexpected, and all-around greatest episode the show has ever shot.
David Harbour says this about the finale episode of Stranger Things season 3.
"[The final episode of season 3 is ] the greatest episode we've ever shot. It's so emotionally powerful because you're not expecting what happens to happen. I don't think we've ever shot anything more moving."
Harbour then went on to speak a bit about what we can expect, plot-wise, from this new season, saying this.
"We closed the gate, but there is this intelligence out there - the spider-shadow monster - and it wants into this world. It's going to use a lot of different means to do that."
While that's not much to go on, Harbour did reveal that Hopper's attempts to "woo" Winona Ryder's Joyce will take a step up this season, adding this.
"[Hopper] gets to really open his heart in a new way. He's sort of realizing the intimacy that is required with a woman his age is going to be difficult."
But all the monsters and Mama Byers' wooing-ing aside, it looks like the scariest thing Harbour and Hopper had to - no pun intended - face this season was the sheriff's newfound obsession with Tom Selleck's Magnum P.I. And more specifically the famous '80s private dick's killer mustache. Harbour admits.
""I hated the mustache after a while. I liked it for a couple of months, and then I was like, 'Holy s-! All I want to do is shave this thing off my face, but I have another three months of a TV show to do.'"
Personally, I can't wait to see Hopper sport some Magnum P.I. 'stache in Stranger Things 3. And as mentioned above, thankfully, we don't have much longer to wait as the third season of Stranger Things featuring the return of Winona Ryder, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, and more fan favorites are all set to debut over on Netflix this Thursday, July 4, 2019. After that Harbour is back up on the big screen for Marvel's upcoming Black Widow solo spin-off movie co-starring Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh, Rachel Weisz, and Ray Winstone. And even though the actor might want us to, let's not forget that The Descent and Dog Soldiers director Neil Marshall's recent R-rated reboot of Mike Mignola's Hellboy is scheduled to be released on Digital on July 9, 2019, and on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on July 23, 2019.
