No, the following Instagram post is not our first look at Eleven as she returns in Stranger Things Season 2 this summer. But it does give us an idea about what she'll look like, as it was snapped amidst production on the returning Netflix series. This photo comes courtesy of Calvin Klein, who just announced actress Millie Bobby Brown as their latest model.
She might be a telepathic, Eggo-loving weirdo when visiting Hawkings, Indiana, but Millie Bobby Brown is also the new face if Calvin Klein by Appointment. Calvin Klein had this to say on their official Instagram, with an image that gives fans a tease of what to expect this summer.
"A cast of distinct individuals brings the idea to life. 38 Chosen for who they are, where an essential strength of character is key. Whether famous or unknown, all are treated equally."
Stranger Things Season 2 takes place in 1984, exactly a year after the events seen in the first season. As you can see, Eleven will still be rocking her extra-short hairstyle when she returns from the Upside Down. Eleven's fate was left up in the air at the end of last season, as she obliterated herself along with the dreaded Demogorgon. Where she went is anyone's guess.
Stranger Things creators The Duffer Bros. wanted Eleven's return to be a surprise, but a bidding war between agents revealed that Millie Bobby Brown was set to return. So just a few days later, she was included in the table read photo that officially marked the start of production on new episodes. This summer, Season 2 will include a total of 9 all-new episodes. That's one up from the 8 episode season last year.
Only tiny tidbits of plot have leaked since production began on Stranger Things Season 2 in late 2016. The next batch of episodes has been compared to a movie sequel rather than a returning TV series. And there will be a handful of new characters returning with the original cast. Everyone who was alive at the end of last season will be back, including Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Winona Ryder, Natalia Dyer and David Harbour.
New this year are Sean Astin, Paul Reiser, Brett Gelman and Linnea Berthelsen. Gelman is said to be playing a conspiracy theorist, while Goonies star Sean Astin is confirmed to be playing Winona Ryder's new boyfriend. His character Bob Newby is said to spark a love triangle between Hopper and Joyce Byers. He isn't new to Hawkings, though. We just didn't see him the first time around.
Newby is said to have been the high school nerd, back when he graduated alongside Hopper and Byers. He currently runs the local Radio Shack, where he sells the young boys in town their walkie-talkies, batteries and other needed electronics.
Eleven will possibly be wrapped up in her own love triangle. A new tomboy has come to school named Max, and it's possible that she'll fall hard for Mike in Eleven's absence. So will Mike invite Eleven or Max to that high school dance? You can bet that is a delimma that will come up. We may even get to see the Demogorgon wreck havoc on the dance in true 80s movie fashion.
