Disney has released a new trailer for Star Wars: The Clone Wars final season, previewing the last episodes of the animated Star Wars series. Lucasfilm revived the beloved show to give it a proper send-off on the Disney+ streaming service, but all good things must come to an end. This trailer showcases the final arc in the upcoming episodes, which will see Ahsoka Tano reuniting with some old friends, including Anakin Skywalker.
The trailer kicks off with Anakin bringing Ahsoka to reunite with some of her loyal clone troopers in an emotional moment. Things quickly shift to an action-packed and dramatic series of shows, with voice over provided by Maul. Lots of space battles. Lots of explosions. Lots of dramatic tension. This is all setting the stage for the Siege of Mandalore, which is something that has been a long time coming. Most importantly, we're building to the ever-important duel between Ahsoka and Maul, which has been teased for some time now but is finally coming.
Animated or otherwise, this trailer carries with it the intensity and emotion that one expects from Star Wars at its peak. Fans of this show have been following this journey for more than a decade, which makes it all the more resonant. The upcoming episode, titled Old Friends Not Forgotten, sees Ahsoka Tano reaching out to Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, hoping that they will aid her in her attempt to capture longtime adversary and former Sith Lord Maul. However, news of General Grievous attacking Coruscant and Palpatine's capture forces them to make a difficult decision.
There are only four episodes left in The Clone Wars season 7, which initially debuted back in February. Disney+ opted to go with a week-to-week release schedule for most of its original shows, which is in stark contrast with the Netflix model, as the company typically does full-season releases. Netflix handled the release of season 6 of the animated show, which debuted in March of 2014 after having previously aired on Cartoon Network for five seasons. The series debuted in 2008 following the ill-fated The Clone Wars movie, but ultimately blossomed into one of the most beloved creations in the entirety of the franchise.
Once this season concludes, it's going to be a while before we see any new Star Wars content on screen. The Mandalorian season 2 is next up, with an October debut currently scheduled, though that could be pushed back given everything that's going on right now. Outside of that, we won't be seeing a new movie until at least December 2022, as Disney and Lucasfilm decided to give audiences a break following the release of The Rise of Skywalker last year. Be sure to check out the new trailer for yourself. The Clone Wars returns with a new episode this Friday on Disney+. This news comes to us via StarWars.com.
